What do you all think? Too good to be true?

912's are great cars! Better balanced than their 6 cylinder brethren, although a little underpowered (a Wilhoit twin plugged 2 liter, although worth more than the cost of the car, would be an absolute blast here!). It does look to be a little undervalued. Maybe ask why he/she is selling and suggest you'll pick it up personally and drive it home? The reaction should tell you all you need to know.
PS- With the increase in power (the Wilhoit 2 liter would have more power than a 2 liter 6- 30 to 40 more hp and comparable or better lower end/midrange power), 911R 7" Fuchs (or the original wheels widened to the inside) with 205's on the back and lowered all around that would be an extremely fun car (and give a lot of 911 owners a serious spanking in the hills!).
Agree that if you ask if you can come by to see it in person, the reply often tells you all you need to know.
1/ The car is in storage but can be shipped to you after a deposit, you can decide once you see the car
2/ Seller is overseas and the car is in elsewhere
The vivid description, doesn't match the far too low price.
I asked the seller for additional photos and a location for the car so I can send someone to inspect it.
$17,000 is waaaaay below the current market for these cars. If the car looks as good as the picture indicates, then I would expect 3x the listed cost, maybe more.
Yeah, I'm thinking scam, but if not, I may pony up for it.
I already sent an email asking if I could come inspect it.
If it's for real and the car is as nice as it looks, that would be too good to pass up. If it was close to me I'd certainly look at it.
Just send me the deposit...Keep the money in the family!
I'l send you the purchase price, if you wire me back the deposit
Pictures very nice. At least somebody is good with Simonize, or Maguires. Be nice to get the real skinny on this one.

the car is in Nigeria no doubt, ask for prince Itakaurmonee
A Polo red one just like this sold on Hemmings back in January for $48,000. It even had Fuchs, so this is likely a scam with a picture lifted from that ad.
It is posted in several major cities, same description and price, slightly different photos. It has been flagged for removal in as many cities as it is still live, so you can be 99% sure its a scam...
DAMN!
And I was ready to hit the “PayPal” button, too!
Go ahead, Carey. Burst my bubble.
Price too good to be true - usually a scam. Cool car though!
But not as cool as Musbjim (circa 1974) styling Angel Flight pants and a banging 'fro standing next to his '68 911S Targa!

I think I had hair back then too! But my first was a '74 914.
Haha! Anyway, no response to my "where is it, and can can I come inspect it" email.
I can't get over that MusbJim seems to have driven his car with those "Elephant Bells" and barefoot without getting tangled in anything. Mus' be a "SoCal" thang........

No response to my request for additional photos and a place to inspect the vehicle.
What did you expect?

I'd expect a humorous response back, what you usually get:
Car is in storage far away from wherever you say you are. But for a $500 deposit, I'll ship it to you and when it is in your possession (obviously at the risk of the seller so you should feel comfortable in sending me a deposit   then you can have a thorough inspection done and decide if you want to purchase it for far less than it's real value..... I'm that great of a guy
Yeah, in hind-sight, I should have emailed an "I'll take it!" reply to see what would happen next.

About what I got, confirmation it was a scam.
