It has been a while since I last updated the status of the Black Sheila.
Over and above what is already done to the Black Sheila e.g, nose job, rear seat mod, 356 fuel tank, replicating the 356 front suspension , front wall mod, Petcock valve, Under-dash E-brake, a total rebuild of the floor pan, centralizing the shifter, replicate the 356 pedals, A-Pillar mods and replicating a 356 engine. One item that is a must on the Black Sheila, is a scissor roof.
A few months ago I started with roof design on CAD, there is so little info on the original scissor roofs, Mango and Gary have done some awesome work with their scissor roofs, but looking at it in detail, it was not what I wanted to fabricate, I wanted to closely replicate a low bow also I wanted to do away with the fiberglass header bow and rather opt for a steel bow.
After a few designs I finally came up with a design which I was content with and articulation seemed to work fine, I must also thank Justin which he was kind enough to share the linkages thickness and width which helped me a lot.
After verifying the design I had the linkages laser cut, due my current work situation I had the laser cut samples sent to Armand to temporarily fit everything together and to verify the articulation and giving me a better perspective on the actual car.
The header bow I had a steel tube bent following the profile of the windshield frame this initially was to be split in half we are currently reviewing an alternative method.
