If you become a supporting member you will have access to both the CMC and Fiberfab build manuals in the Resource section of this site. They both show that same piece you speak of as part of their build kits. and provide specific directions on mounting the windshield / screen to the car.
I don't see that part in the Vintage parts section of their website but that doesn't mean they don't put it on their cars, it just doesn't appear as a part on their site.
Others with experience building out these cars would be of help in placement and advice as to whether it is a truly important part of the build. Looking at it, I'm guessing that installing it would be a good idea, but I haven't built one of these.
