S.D. member passing

just called David Klipfel here in San Diego to touch bases on some parts we talked about back in March and was informed by his wife that he passed on Oct 15. I didn't see any mention on the forum about it yet, maybe i missed it. Unfortunately i never met him . just thru email . but he seemed like a great guy, very helpfull and generous. I'll miss him.

Oh wow... I did not know that he had died...

Very sad to hear this! I never actually met David either, but we did communicate a lot over the last few years. Here are a few pictures of David's beautiful widebody.

That's a terrible shame. Dave was among those who always welcomed me when I was on the west coast. Very sad to hear this.

I don't have an address, just know what part of S.D. he lived in. I've meant to go by and meet him 4 or 5 times in the last few months but I was busy in the before and aftermath of my Mums dying in June, weird that that was the reason for not meeting him. They were both the same age 70 and too young to go.

I wont make the same mistake again, life is too short.

Dave, I never met you, yet I know you. We never shook hands yet you touched my heart. Rest in Peace my friend.

I didn't know David, but it is always sad to lose someone you shared time with. I Googled for some info, only came up with brief info-there is a place to forward condolences to the family. Better yet, if someone who knew more about him personally could write a brief post about his life, I, for one, would enjoy knowing more about him. Scott

David was a pretty active member here on the SOC and I always enjoyed his point of view on any topic. He was always positive, reasonable, entertaining and respectful.

I'm very sad about this and would like some details---he was a fairly young guy, I think.

I will miss him.

i hope the wife and family are well,it is not easy,i also just lost my wife randie after 40 beautiful years,it hurts a lot,wish them well and please be thankful for all the wonderful times you spent with david,R.I.P. ,herbert hofer.

Met Dave several times here in San Diego, had lunch with Dave and the bunch at the last burger run. He was always a gentleman and great company.

Dave was the kinda guy that was ready for a ride at a moments notice... never let you down and was always kicking it up for San Diego runs... Yes he was young (from our perspective) here's to his family and friends,

Dave you will be missed but not forgotten...

I am really sorry to hear of Dave's passing. I had the pleasure of getting to know him pretty well since we both call San Diego County home. He was a car guy through and through. I enjoyed his great stories about working at GM in the 60's, and making the move to San Diego. He rode a motorcycle to work for most of his life out here in California. I'm going to miss him greatly. I knew he had been sick, but he gave the impression that he was improving. RIP Dave, you were a fine man.
