I like it a lot. Beautiful car.
Is that the same color as Auratium green ?
Auratium green =Porsche color # 5712
I go to Charlottesville all the time if anyone is interested in a close up opinion.
That color looks really close to my old car.i think it might be Auratrium green.Either way the car looks good.
Well, the color does not rock my boat, but it looks to be a real nice car. A "Normal" 1600, says here. Seems like a right price. I'll be in C'ville over thanksgiving, if that makes any difference to anybody.
If you are in Cville the weekend after Thanksgiving come over for a beer. Will have a keg tapped in preparation for Virginia/VA Tech football game. Wife and I are Hokies. Kids are Wahoos.
Phil
Phil,
pls give particulars of time/location for that beer. Thinking of returning to DC area on Sat'y some time, but plans are fluid.
Time for game is still TBA. Times are usually 1230, 330 and 730. Will let you know as time approaches.

Tom I still just love that color every time I see it.
Thanks Tom.
Ended. I knew that car would sell quick.
Chuck? Is that you. I also think they call the interior light sand.
Yes Tom, thanks, just like your old car. I believe it sold, I was planning on driving down to Virginia to see it on Saturday if it didn't sell.
The add says it ended, not sold. I see no bidding on it either.
Contact the seller if interested...
Same color as my car which is Tom's old car! Tom: I've put on several thousand miles so far and it still runs like a top. I told my wife that if I keep long enough, I'll respray in the same color. It gets a bunch of attention.

When a seller ends a listing early, all bids are deleted. That's why it looks like no one bid. I'd been watching this one from the day it was listed, and bidding was up to $17K with one day left, and the reserve had been met. I had planned to bid if it stayed under $20K, but I never bid on any auction until the last few minutes. This car was one of two colors that I would own (the other being Meissen blue), and it was only a few hours from me! I'd been in contact with the seller, but it seems he sold it privately off of ebay before the auction ended.
I did not know that, thanks for the ebay lesson.
Used to sell a lot of motorcycles on ebay. I ended quite a few listings because someone would contact me and give me what I wanted for the bike. I also had a few auctions play out only to find that the winning bidders would back out of their bid. I always liked it when someone called me and made me an offer. I could negotiate and feel them out to find out if they were a real player and really had the cash. I also bought bikes that way. Everyone always waits til the last few second to bid. I could never type fast enough to get that last bid in. If the seller would not negotiate by phone I would make a bid with the absolute highest amount I was willing to pay. No one knows the amount of your bid. They only know if the reserve has been met. If someone out bid my bid in the final seconds so be it. Obviously I was resigned to the fact that I was never going to get the deal of the century.
Phil, do you ever miss motorcycle riding? The reason I ask is I've got the itch to buy a motorcycle. I rode quite a bit way back in the 80's and the urge is getting strong again.
I know you were in a bad accident a while back and that's the one thing that's holding me back. I trust (for the most part) my own driving, but there are a lot of inattentive, bad drivers on the road.
Looking at adventure bikes, so I can also do some exploring in the back country.
Ron
If you have an itch I think you should scratch it. My accident was the fault of an inexperienced rider in the group. My wife and my titanium plates tell me to never ride again. But I love bikes. Road for 43 years. But I think I'm done. I feel like humpty dumpty. Don't think they could put me back together again.
Well I just learned something new. I've been under the impression that once the Reserve price has been met, you could not cancel an auction. I just called eBay and they confirmed that you can cancel an auction at any time, even if the Reserve price has been met. He did say that they don't like it and they might put some restrictions on you, but you can do it.
Everyone always waits til the last few second to bid. I could never type fast enough to get that last bid in.
Try "snipe" software. Let the computer get the bid in for you.
So what happens when you have multiple bidders using SNIPE?
So what happens when you have multiple bidders using SNIPE?
The bidder with the highest bid will win.. I use it all the time. Just determine the maximum that you're willing to pay, set the bid lead time (I always set it for 4 seconds) and auction sniper will bid up to that amount. If the bidding goes above your maximum auction sniper will send you notification.
Who needs SNIPE? You don't have to type fast to get a last second bid in on eBay; you just put in your maximum amount, wait until about the last 10 seconds(or 5) then CLICK. That's it. If somebody bids more with or without SNIPE, they'll win. Doesn't make any difference if the bid goes in at 5 seconds or 3 seconds, nobody is going to have time to outbid you if they haven't already. Also, ties go to the guy who bid first, so if you bid the same amount at 5 seconds left as someone else bids manually or with SNIPE at 2 seconds, you win.
As to selling off eBay/ending early, I think it's up to the seller. His car, he can do whatever he wants.
Auction Sniper is a great tool if you can't bid at the end of the auction. Also avoids a bidding war if you use ebay's proxy bidding.
Yup its up to the seller, they just have to cancel any existing bids.
Just doesn't seem right to me. You placed something in an auction with a reserve price that is the minimum you would accept. Someone places a bid that exceeds your reserve, essentially agreeing to pay you what you wanted or possibly even more and you can just say nevermind. Like I said, "it just doesn't seem right to me."
When we were kids we would do something similar to this and then say "psyched" or "NOT."
Guess who's back?
Yikes!!! You had me concerned for a minute! Whew.
I think it's a fair bet that the reserve is going to be a good bit higher than $17K this time.
I had a feeling it would be back...

Different seller and location. Might be on consignment or a flip. Wonder if the Porsche market madness is extending to our humble cars. There is one in NY languishing on eBay for mid twenties that sold in S CA for mid teens. Has those kind of generic Olde Tyme Car gauges.
57 with bee hive tail lights?
Teardrops started in March 57, and license plate lights went from shine-down to shine-up at coupe 100001, cabriolet 61701, and Speedster 83201, so 57's were made with both styles of rear illumination.
Guess who's back?
Did you notice the second one for sale has hub caps on the wheels? First one did not.
I-n-t-e-r-e-s-t-i-n-g.
Hub caps. Probably worth the $1757.00 difference in starting bid. However, both auctions have ended. What the H, E double tooth pics is going on?
Wow, gone already. I wonder if it'll pop up again in another few weeks at another couple thousand $ profit for the next guy. The first seller did say he had the hubcaps when I asked.
