Hi everybody, Ive got the speedster bug. Just beginning to research the marque. I want to either build a replica,a turnkey, or other. Ive heard of BECK, VINTAGE, Automotive legends, etc. What is the best kit out there, in terms of fit and finish, reliability, and authenticity to the original. I want to have fun, tinker, and enjoy acar for years to come. Im sure there are opinions out there, Ive spoken to several of the builders, and like the cobra people, everyone thinks there car is the best and the others are junk. What does the club think?

If I'm not mistaken Automotive Legends is a reseller of Vintage Speedsters. Basically you need to choose between either VW Beetle pan based or tubular chassis. Vintage Speedsters sells the pan based cars in turnkey and kit form too and they also supply JPS with their bodies, etc. Manufacturers such as Beck, Thunder Ranch, Intermeccanica and SAW offer tubular platforms. SAW only offers Subaru power plants in mid engine configuration and only turnkey. Beck, Intermec and Thunder Ranch offer mostly VW based power trains, although water cooled powertrains are being developed by Intermec. They all mostly sell turnkeys. Another manufacturer is Street Beasts in Miami (formerly CMC) and they only offer wide body Speedsters; I'm not sure if they still sell in kit form, though.
