seat foam pattern

Anyone got a pattern for the seat foam for speedster seats? I plan on redoing my seats in the next few weeks and I'm not sure the existing foam will be in any shape to provide a pattern. Also curious as to what the thickness should be. From the pics I've seen in the search it looks to be about 3/4" thick? I've got the instructions from the old CMC manual, the seat covers and the carpet for the seat backs, so I just need the foam to get started. Any other imput would be appreciated.

Mickey - I still have one of my CMC seats un-assembled (along with a lot of the rest of the car!) - Can trace it them paper and measure thickness for you. The seat cushion is a little sculptured - easily done with a turkey electric carving knife though. My guess is it near 2" thick - and the cover compresses it but will measure to be sure.

I have a couple of disassembled Speedster-style seats as well. If you can't get any satisfaction out of using patterns as a guide, I can send the foam pieces on down for you to copy . . .

Yup - 2" for side bolsters and bottom is 6" at thickest area.

A helpful tip "Dr. Clock"....
Don't waste your time attempting to cover the seats yourself, it's well worth the money to have them professionally done ... no need to ask me and most other's why ? :)

I need the templates for the foam and the rails. I have a great (so far) upholstry guy in Pasadena (TX) that just did a jamb up job on my super beetle. He is gonna do my Jeepster top next and then, pending results, I will let him do the speester.
Any suggestions /sources are appreciated.

It looks like you and I are in the same part of the world...we should talk.

Regarding seat rails I am using a set in my Spyder I got from Russ R at Fibersteel. There were not cheap but they work pretty well and mine hinge at the front so you can clean under etc.

I am also working on a Speedster right now that has no seats, so I will need to do some rails also, and will most likely go back to Russ.
