Ok, body is finally on (whew) so, after a few cold ones I sat to admire things taking shape. Threw one of the seats in and, for the first time had a look from the real drivers view. The garage door was still open and the wife was close so I withheld the vrooom vroom sounds  -till she's gone anyway (and a few more IPAs).

The Fiberfab documentation says to mount the seat tracks directly to the pan but they just seem low. Probably fine if you're 6'5" -which I'm not. I searched out here and saw another guy who welded in angle brackets to raise the seats. I imagine you could do the same with box aluminum.

Just curious if anyone else has raised thier seats.

My CMC speedster drivers seat is bolted on the pan in the rear and raised 3" in the front and pushed as far back as possible to make them lay back enough to get my head below the top of the windscreen no slider,

and I'm 5' 11 15/16" or used to be. I might go with 914 seats as they are thinner if IRC, Wolfgang(I think) redid some nice ones.

You have stock VW pan with the seat recess area (or flat metal)?  The stock CMC seats with the adjustable seat track? I plan to use a 1/2 (or 3/4) oak strip of wood to keep seat track from digging into the carpet and still be adjustable.  I'll have to look but think I did same where track fits to the fiberglass seat frame. You could use thicker wood spacer if desired.

I have 914 seats too but haven't reupholstered them yet. Can't decide on color.  Blk car with fire red interior and tan top and interior.  Thinking of tan interior down the road - after I WEAR RED ONES OUT.
