That's a good point that probably bears repeating:

A Pan-based car (CMC/VS/JPS - anything using a VW pan as a chassis) can only fit a seat base which is 16-3/4" wide or less.  Those include Speedster seats, as well as seats from a Porsche 914 or Mazda Miata.  That's all I'm sure of, there may be one or two more.

If it is a Tube-frame car, like a Beck or IM or SAS, then you can get a wider seat, like 18" - 19" wide base and it will still fit.

You might consider seats from an auto salvage (junk) yard, although they might require base mods.  I bought a pair of seats from a junk yard for $75 for the pair (from a '92 Chrysler LeBaron) and modified them to make them fit (all documented on here).  They are more like Cabriolet seats and far more comfortable than my old 914 seats.   It all depends on whether you want that "Speedster Look" or want to be comfortable.

I also had a pair of Recarro look-alikes that I got from another SOC member in Maryland and later sold to Cory Drake for his Hoopty - He loves them.  I'll try to find a photo of them and post it.
