I got my speedster seats from Oscar today and my carpet is ready to be fitted so I'm getting ready to dive in and start my interior re-do! Can anyone help me out with the best choice of seat tracks? Oscar had mentioned that John at JPS uses 88-90 Honda Civic tracks? I looked at them online and they seem a little "complicated" for my seats. I had dune buggie seats in before and unfortunately those track bolt hole patterns are about a 1/2 inch off. If I'm going to have to re-fiberglass over the old holes in the bottom of the seats anyway I figured I would get the standard tracks used for classic speedster buckets (slots in backrest). What should I use?

You might luck out and not need the hinges or bracket that Wolfgang mentions. I bolted mine in and liked the "pitch" that the bracket angle offered just fine. Installed them as-is and done.

On the new car, I used small spacer blocks (cut from 1x1 square steel 'tubing") to adjust the angle.

But, I tend to use the same driving position all the time, never adjust anything really.

Just measure the outer diameter of that central tube connecting the two end mount assemblies, hit the hardware store "plumbing, electrical & heating" section, grab up a short "slice" pipe with the same inner diameter, cut the connector pipe and shorten it to the length that will provide the width that you're looking for, slide the splice on then drill and rivet it in place.

The seats have "bosses" kind of molded into them where the mounts would attach, some have wooded slats glassed in as well. You should use these as the guide for establishing the eventual width of the seat mounts and shorten the connector pipe accordingly.

Just commom sense really . . .

Luck,

TC
James,
Thanks for the offer, I may end up taking you up on them. I modified the old track from my other seats to fit the speedster seats. I only have the drivers seat installed until I get my carpet back from my sister (she's sewing on the trim). When it's time to finish the interior I'll re-evaluate the seat track issue and figure out if my current modifications will last. Thanks again, Mickey
