I was talking to an old friend today about making my seats move forward for Teresa's benefit. Now that we have a garage, I could do that sort of thing pretty well at the house, and not have to worry about a long-term plan for leaving it somewhere overnight.
Since I'm about to undertake a few other cosmetic jobs, I thought I'd ask about folks' experiences with seats and rail systems.
My friend suggested looking into the seat tracks from an MGB or a Fiero. Either system would elevate the seats an inch or so off the floor, and the Fiero tracks apparently have an elevation adjustment to them also. I have no experience with either one.
What other suggestions are there for comfort and forward-to-rear adjustable seats which could be mounted to a flat floor? And where would a fella come up with some used MGB seats in the vacinity of Baltimore?

Cory---
I just removed my VS seats and tracks to install new carpet and got a good look at them. They are simple, solid and should be trouble free---plus inexpensive. As far as the seats, I replaced the original bottom cushions with ones form a Porsche 914 and now have super comfortable seats.

I tried the M G / Miata route without success. I also purchased
Porsche ones from a 914; the rusted and broken tracks (which is all thats out there) along with the cushions. When I tried the bottom seat cushions in my VS seat shells I knew I immediateled solved my quest for better seats. Then I sold the rest of the 914 ones sans bottom cushions.

Used VS seats would be the way to go if you can locate some from your post.

Good luck!
Cory...before installing your seat tracks, experiment with adding wooden wedges beneath them. I made wedges about 12-14" long and about 1-1/2" high at the forward end. This way, as a shorter person moves the seat forward, they also raise their poition in the car. It also provides you with a bit more tilt to your seat and seat back, keeping your head just a bit lower and a bit more below the windshield frame. I used VS seats and tracks.
