Seating Q

I apologize if this is a dumb question, but do any kits have seats in the back, or are these strictly two seaters? I have two young kids and I would like something with the capacity that would allow all four of us to enjoy.

All the cars do have a small bench type seat in the back but it's not advisable to carry passengers there due to road safety laws. A cool and very Speedsterlike alternative in your case would be a convertible Karmann Ghia.

Buy the speedster, tell the kids there is no room for them....

Yes, there is a bench in the back, and from what I have been told you can put in a seat belt, BUT it is not very safe, especially for young kids.

I agree with Vince, get it anyway! Its worth it.

You gotta love Vince, thank God his girls are grown... I know some places that will install seatbelts, but you have to understand that they will not hold up to any great force since they are tied to fiberglass and not metal. I take my little one (12 years old) all the time in the back without worries, but I am very careful and I watch out for idiots too!

There is not much room there (near zip head rooom with top up) and not much padding either but I'm sure you could bolt seat belts to a big piece of angle iron beneath the fiberglass --- perhaps bolt the angle iron to the frame on either side. I've seen so "iffy" front seat belt installs where the builder uses a small washer thru the thin tin floor --- that sure won't help you in an accident.

That's the way seat belts are installed in most pan based cars...old Intermecs, Fiberfabs, CMCs, VS's & JPS's........wow.....
