Gary,

Since you are tall, I'd look into getting a pair of replica Speedster seats, they are pretty comfortable and drop you down lower into the car. I know you could get a pair from John Steele at JPS or Russ Rodriges at Fibersteel. Fibersteel.com or click on the JPS ad on this site. I'm 6'2 and a little wide in the beam but they fit me fine. Nice part about them is that they look fairly authentic.

Gary:

Another alternative, seen quite often on here, too, is using a pair of Porsche 914 seats.

The problem with pan-based cars is that they're not especially wide where the seats fit in and, as such, not a lot will fit. The width limit is about 16 inches, if you want to drop them low onto the pan, and even 16" is a very tight fit. 914 seats are 15" wide and, if you get the slides and other mounting hardware you can make them fit pretty easily AND pseudo-recline (the entire seat rocks as the back "reclines").

Hey Mike
Nice job on the seats !
What I'm finding is the actual design gets unconfortable on longer rides. Not that we are doing any for a while...."fellow Canadian" eh. It's a lower back thing or age (don't recommend either).
Latest brain storm is to check the wreckers....maybe a miata seat???

Gary,
I am also 6'3" and had the same problem with seat height that the speedster I purchased had come with. I ripped out the seats and bought a set of Hunsaker Racing seats for $150 each. They had the sliders and they are plastic racing seats with 5-pt harness provisions. They come with vinyl padding and you can add padding if you want a more comfortable ride. They are very supportive and an excellent deal.
