Remember, original 356 seats don't mount directly to the floor pan as they do in a VW. The inner mounts are on the "tunnel" which is lower in a 356 than a VW, the outers are on separate brackets.

It will take some fabrication and a handful of original 356 parts to install these correctly, so factor that into the final cost.

Agreed, that is going to be the problem. Where the 356 mounted the seats on top of the tunnel, mounting them in a VW will require brackets be fabricated to locate them beside the tunnel, pushing them outwards by over by almost tow/three inches on each side.

They'll never fit the narrow space between the tunnel and heater channels.

They really ARE nice seats as you mention, and superbly comfortable, though lacking in side support as we've come to know and expect it.

"I think they also have a tilt adjustment."

They do.

The tilt adjustment on the 914 seats is for the entire seat rather than the back section. They're a solid shell, similar to the replica Speedster seats.

The 914 seat bracketry includes a lever that will tilt the seat backwards for increased comfort, less up-right positioning. This lever is in addition to the one for sliding the seat for and aft.

It's really a pretty simple, nice set-up and works very well with the ergonomics of the stock 914.

Look just like mine, only a shade lighter (mine are Walnut colored).

When I got my seats (pulled from a 914) I got the tracks and tilt adjust with them.  The tilt adjusters and sliders look just like those in  Tommy Boys shot up above.

Like a dummy, I didn't grab the toothed bracket that attaches to the floor and that the tilt adjuster fits into at various tilt heights, so ended up making one from 1/4" wall angle stock and cutting the "teeth" very slowly with a SawZal.  Not pretty, like factory, but it works.
