I put together one of the seats that came with my kit and did a lousy job. So I started shopping around. I had a hard time finding a style I liked that was only 19" wide and with out spending a bucket load of cash.

If you are not looking for "authenticity" the price was very reasonable and they would cover them with any fabric you wish (even if you wanted to send them material). I had them send me some matching vinyl and piping so my dash, door panels and seats all match exactly. The seats are very comfortable and look great.

I tried using bucket seats from a Chrysler LeBaron for my CMC replica, but found that they were too wide at 17 inches. I had "speedster" seats from CMC for my replica but they were the pits and I chose not to use them. Instead, I got a couple of high back seats from a Porsche 914 at a salvage yard. They fit in like they were made for it (which they were, in a way). Then you have the option of hunting for 914 seats with the correct color match, or you can get them recovered to match pretty easily, since they have easy-to-apply covers. I left them alone and put sheepskin seat covers over them making the vinyl color irrelevent. Make sure you get the glide rails along with them, and if you're really handy you can pull the recliner mechanism - it doesn't recline much, but at least it's something. With the gliders you'll have over 8 inches of front-to-back travel, and they recline over 15 degrees. I didn't have to modify anything, other than fabricate floor mounts for the front recliner posts - for that I trash canned the Porsche posts that mount on the floor, and made up a pair of vertical toothed mounts out of 1/4 inch thick angle iron, kind of like a piece of gear stock. The recliner arm has a tooth on it that fits into the "gear" rack to allow several settings of "recline". Works great and is invisible (the recline lever sits between the seat and the center tunnel). Only problem is that the high seat back hits the roll bar when reclined back with the seat pushed back on the rails - good thing I'm only 5'7" tall!
