Seats

I have a CMC with a widebody. Well, the car and my rear end- the fiberglass buckets it came with were just a little narrow. Any ideas on getting a seat that accomodates a wider trunk? I have tried Beard- good luck getting them on the phone. I have tried Empi- but they only have black, and I need a tan seat. How about older Porsche seats? Do they fit? I appreciate any feedback.

According to Vintage Speedsters, their bucket seat (the one with 2 slots in the back) has been made 2" wider than the seat they formerly put in their Spyder and Speedster. They used to also offer a Cabriolet seat, but they told me it was discontinued.

911/912/356 seats are too wide and will not fit in a VW pan based vehicle. 914 seats will fit - you can cut off the head rest plus if you use their mounting bracket you get 3-4 position tilt in addition to back and forth. You can find them on ebay for $50-100 but most need to be reupholstered. 924/944 seat don't appear to be too wide but they are a very modern style.

The seats I had in my first Speedster were more "trunk" frinedly.

I ended up using seats from a 2001 Miata. I was able, after removing much of the recliner spring mechanism and the seat belt post, to get the seats with sliders mounted and able to fit my 6'2" 270 frame. The head rests came up to even with the roll bar, and it looks pretty good, if not original. Plus, I thought it was a joy to drive before, but now that my legs are set right and I and held comfortably in the seat, the car is a barrel of fun.

The seats I removed are in my garage- but they are covered with a dark tan vinyl, like the color of a baseball glove. I have no idea what they are worth, though.

i am still interested in the seats. alltrough they are tan.

Try Mastercraft seats or Sube seats{cobra's} nice looking seats but I don't know if they will fit or not. Or try finishlineaccessories.com $850.for two black leather seats with sliders.

Dont know if this of any help but I have toyota mr 2seats in my speedster just had to slice off 15mm on the handle that releases the seat to let people in the back they are comfy but will but not go to far back but ample for people up to 5 feet 10 inches
