I believe that I will be getting new seats made for my v.s. (i'm too tall for the standard ones). if/ when this happens, would anyone be interested in my existing seats? they are tan vinyl and have about 1300 miles on them...basically, they are new.

George,
They look great. Afraid they might be out of my range, but if you want to PM me at jspbtown@aol.com with a price I will let you know. I work in Worcester so I assume we could meet somewhere if needed.
Thanks

george mailed me last night. He is asking what I consider to be a very fair price. However, in order to get them to match my car I would have to replace to many things that the budget will not allow at this time. They are up for grabs and are a great deal!

They are beautiful seats, aren't they, Jeff?
George, I'd love to have them when and if you decide to go through with the swap!
Just let me know and I'll run over and swap cash for stash. I'll even help you take them out . . .

Done Deal ! !
That's great, just email or post when they're available. I'll try to keep my weight where it is, around 500 lbs., so as not to crush 'em too badly once I get 'em in the car.

TC
tc, don't worry about your weight, you can always wrap them in duct tape for extra reinforcement.
Ever tried sheepskins?

I blew the seat cushion bottom out of the Ghia seat last year. That's why I run it with just the bare fiberglass. Tough ride, but you never fall asleep at the wheel . . .
Former Member
I could never justify spending the $ for real ones, and it seemed kind of Wango Tango to be sitting on a sheep's SKIN anyway, so I tried the artificial ones once.
They were crap! Made my ass so hot and sweaty that my cheeks were always full of Butt Butter when I got back from driving.
Not a pleasant experience . . .

i still stand behind duct tape as the end all fix.
TC,
Kirk mailed my new seats yesterday afternoon. I have a feeling they may come in by the end of the week. Are you still interested in my old seats? If so, drop me a line so we can work out the details.

George, what do the new seats look like from VS? Are they much different than the standard?
Boston Bob

Bob,
They are not so much new as they are new to me. They are more like the authentic speedster seat, concave, and giving more room for my 6'2" frame. Hopefully soon, I will forget what my knee-caps taste like.

George, I understand, I'm 6 1 or so myself. Do you know if thi is something that VS offers regularly? I've never seen any other seats from VS.
I use Beck Speedster seats in mune and they are pretty thin and I get back pretty tight to the rear seat.

Bob,
I think it's a seat that is fairly common at Vintage. The best picture is on Ricardo Baerga's a.k.a. "impala" profile. i found nothing on the vintage site depicting these seats. it was only when i visited vintage was i aware of the option. i just called kirk and told him to make mine just like ricardo's (thanks for the great photo!!).

Hi George,
Did the new seats arrive? You thought that they might be here by the weekend. I like to see them, and pay you for/pick up your old ones.
When we hook up for the trade off, remind me to tell you about my day at the Porsche Festival Lawn Event, last weekend in Brookline. The terms riff-raff and porscherazzi were thrown about pretty freely.
"Hey there, Porsche Boy, drivin' down street so fancy free."

tc,
it's not looking good for the seat swap for this weekend either. just so you are aware, here is my problem: i live in boston. my car lives in quincy. the seats are living in yarmouth...they should really be living in my car by now. i appreciate your patience. perhaps i will be able to cruise down next week and install them. i'll keep you plugged in.

Thanks George! When you go down for the install, if you need a hand, Ed and I can help out.
I can hold on, your "old" seats are worth the wait!
Just let me know when you want to meet up for the hand-off.
Luck,

FINALLY !!!!!!
Just kidding : )
That's terrific! If you want I can run up to Quincy and grab them from you give you $ for them there. Obviously not far from here.
(This may turn out to be my seat weekend anyway, I've got to pick up another set for another project, possibly on Friday.)
Whenever it happens, just let me know and I'll hook up with you.
Luck in installing them,
TC

George,
No problem at all. I work at home so I 'm always . . . here.
Sometimes I'm upstairs in the computer room so I may not hear the door, but I'm almost always home. Maybe give a call ahead or email when you're coming by so I can keep a look out.
Or I can come to you, the little panel truck is on the road and a ball to drive so carrying room and mobility are no problem. The Ghia was a bit small, although you saw how much I could pack into it . . . the 356 is still having the running gear updated for autocross.
Luck,
TC
The last time that I had to wait this long for two of ANYTHING, was when my sister announced that she was pregnant with twins . . . : )

if you read my new thread on "buckling buckets" you'll see that my new seats aren't what i imagined. i'm going to try to work this through, because i really like them...at least the room they give me. hang in there.

George,
I'm sorry to hear about the quality of your new seats. I mean, not 'cause I was scooping you're old ones, but because you were so happy/looking forward to be getting them.
If you decide to take it a bit further and get genuine 914 seats recovered, I have a pair with the rails and adjusters that you can grab up.
Just keep me informed and let me know "yes" or "no" when the time comes. I wish that they were what you were hoping for.
Luck,
TC

TC,
Sorry for the long, drawn out experience. I'm sending these new seats back and keeping the old ones. Hope there are no hard feelings. I thought about modifying the new seats, but I noticed that after sitting in themm for about twenty minutes, I get a cramp in my back.

Of course no hard feelings, George!?!
It's such a shame that they didn't work out for you, though. You were so ready for them and all. Good to know what kind not to get, anyway. But it's a shame that the knowledge comes at your expense.
I might just order a set like yours from VS, what style are yours called, and what was the color, again?

TC
