I original thought I would mount the display so it would swing through a 90 degree arc to pivot out of sight.

Then I decided to have it slide up vertically behind the dash.

I found some precision ball slides on ebay and mounted everything on a 1/4" aluminum plate so everything would be solid and rigid.

I used a magnetic catch to hold the display in its retracted position.

Michael---excellent work, my friend---pro all the way.

I recently bought a boat radio antenna that I plan to mount somewhere inside the car. The antenna is only about 20" long and is rubber---I believe I can find a vertical place to mount it maybe in the fender well or someplace without making a hole in the car body. Right now the radio uses some kind of antenna stuffed up under the dash--a aluminum cylinder 5" lomg and 1" diameter with a wire to the radio. I don't think it's for AM as all I get is FM and ststic on AM. I also got a small amplifier and signal "cleaner-upper" anf hope to end up with a good set up.

But try the rubber boat radio antenna. You'll have an invisible radio and an invisible antenna.
