Thanks Steve, Mike & Lambros.

Mike that is a cool site and I sure like that latest Badge, but the one I'm looking for is black (see pic).
Steve, smooth edges. I want a true vintage badge.
Lambros, he doesn't have any up right now, but I am going to write him & see if he can source one.

See Pic Below.
Jim, I have several German ADAC badges and you're welcome to one of them; perhaps the neatest one is a silver metal cutout, 3-D stamping of the eagle/ADAC.

The "sawtooth" badges were cheap painted units made in this country and sold by various accessory houses in the 50's and 60's.

Note: Ask Henry to install your rear deck lid grill WITHOUT the double sided rubber tape (which makes it a BITCH to get out without damage).
Jim,
The badge You are seeking, from the picture, is an extremly rare find. It is in fact only given by Gary Emory to 'Outlaws'. You can not buy one from him. On the badge is the words, "356 outlaw".

I too would love to have one of those! Id remove all other badges from my car, except the Intermeccancia coach builder badge.

As they say on the television "NOT AVAILABLE IN STORES"
Close but no cigar Glenn... It is the opposite in colors, flip the black and white, and as Dale just imformed us.... a rare Emory find with Outlaw on it. My new Grail! Glenn, look at the bottom right of this speedster's engine grill (below). That is the quest brother. It is almost like buying the Heisman from OJ or finding the one Billy Sims pawned... well, sort of on that level in Speedster-land.

Dale I am calling that TX number early tomorrow. Thank you sir!

Jim
The badge Jim has pictured is cast and the eagle is in relief. There is a raised edge on the circumference like a coin. There is no ceramic on the badge.

The badge Glenn is linking to, looks to be in fantastic condition. Usually there are/is small chips in the ceramic caused by over tightening the mounting screws, and/or the ceramic has faded a bit to a yellowish tone.
Jim, I think Dale's right unless it's impossible that that car had either been built by Gary or had participated in one of his Campouts. Gary is very particular about what cars wear his badges. From the angle of the picture it does look like one of his badges though, not an ADAC.

Dale, the outlaw you referred to in your email, do you think it was the owner of that yellow coupe with the mini-lites? I think I met the guy later in the afternoon of the event. He was a nice guy and really like our cars.
Scott, I would think yours would quailify... it sure looked good in the line up pic!
I just ordered a badge that will look hot on my grill. I'll share it with you all when it comes in... and it really fits my colors and the area I am from. (thanks DB!). And If GB is so gracious to send that other then I will be Badge happy!

Jim
John,

Not a dumb question. I really need to know also!

Dale, at Knotts last year there was one of those badges entered as one of the raffle items, I forget who won it but I remember you asking me who did. Was that the one you guys are talking about. That particular item looked old, had some patina on it. Did you donate that one or were you interested in trading for it!

Bruce, (if I knew it was so valuable I might have had to "win" it,) but of course I'm too honest!

Bruce
Bruce and John. I am sure there are others than can give you better info, but this is my understanding of ADAC. I'll look up the exact words that make up the ADAC acronym, but essentially it is The German Auto Club. Consider it a blending of AAA, SCCA, and most of the road clubs in America. Germany has regional clubs, ADAC is the big one and provides many services like AAA, but also hosts true car clubs under it's umbrella name. They have hosted rallys, races, and a number of events since they first had cars in Germany. They put out badges on an annual basis, some that are event specific, and others that might mark a race, rally, show, etc.

There are other regional clubs in Germany... but ADAC is associated with Mercedes and Porsche. Maybe it has to do with their region?

Ok, now that is a terrible explanation. Hopefully someone will post about their relationship with Porsche.
As a " Deutscher, jetzt Amerikaner" as a border guard told me back in 1969 on one of my frequent trips to my birthplace. Ah---Day--Ah--Tzeh --- stands for
Allegemein Deutsher Automobile Klub and as is described previously is just like AAA and has nothing to do with Porsche , MBZ. BMW or any other luxury marque.
You might just as readily see an ADAC "schlidt" on an Opel. which if you know your German is "Jeder Popel faerht Ein Opel." Anyone care to guess what it means, the rude phrase referring to the common GM Marque?
