After a brutal winter my car is headed back home this afternoon. Carey Hines as always came through with the greatest customer service out there (IMO). I did go with the new gauges and will report back after some driving time.

Joe,
Mike is about an hour outside of downtown now. He is dropping off a Spyder on W. Superior and then headed your way.
I only put about 30 miles on the new gauges, and they worked great! We also calibrated the new mileage to reflect actual mileage and avoid having to use an odometer replacement statement.
Keep me posted on the gauges as well. As I mentioned earlier, I'd be a fool to think they'll be perfect "out of the box" but so far I have no issues at all... fingers crossed. :-)
Received the banjo /brakeline......tnx Carey !
Great Al. Let me know how it works out and if you need a different banjo bolt I have 10x1.25 and 10x1.0 as well (use same hose)
All is right in the world once again.
Took a quick drive and all is good. The new gauges are really accurate and no more bouncing speedo. Pictures do not do justice to the work done by Special Edition.

Looks GREAT Joe!!!
Hooray for a spring day and Joe's car and Carey's service! Joe, I'm mailing your badge this afternoon.
Joe, I love the color of your car! With the wheels and the drum skins.
Spot on perfect.
What color is that?
Ted
Dang Joe...that looks the business!! VERY nice. +1 for Carey Hines. The guy is just unreal.
TRP
It is Merlot. It is a custom mix using BMW Merlot as the base formula and losing the metal flake to give it a more vintage solid color.
Hey Carey,
I just bought a complete set of gauges from you guys this week. Other than a wiring diagram to help know what is what for connections on the back of each gauge which Kevin is working on how did you set the odometer so that the actual mileage of the car is displayed rather than starting over again? I'd love to be able to have that reading correct.
Frank
Good for you Joe! Carey is the man!
There is no easy way to "set" the mileage, and the odometer is "tamper-proof" without some VDO in house software... sorry.
We came up with our own "hack" of sorts. What we do is this;
switch the gauge over to programming mode, and from GPS to speed sensor.
Wire speed sensor to the gauge and attach to a drill.
Enter calibration mode and run the drill for approx 3 seconds, tricking the gauge into thinking that you just drove a mile in 3s.
Set the trigger lock on the drill (or tape/zip tie the trigger) and walk away for a while.
A little quick math will give you an idea of how long it will take to rack up the miles you need. (Fortunately 10k is the largest we've done so far).
Don't forget about it because you can't take mileage off...
^^^What Ted said^^^Love the color, Joe!
Interesting Carey. Reminds me of setting mileage on a mechanical cable driven speedo. What is a speed sensor in your hack? And, could I send it back with the proper mileage and have you do this if I cant??
Thanks,
Frank
What is your mileage?
Carey,
My mileage is 15,8xx. It would be great to be able to have a credible 'actual' mileage. Anything you can do or maybe send me the mechanical sender with a core-charge if it's not back within X number of days with some basic instructions would be great. I most likely won't be installing it too too soon so it's still in the box at this point. Kevin is working on a basic wiring diagram to send along as well.
Thank you,
Frank
P.S. I don't have any instructions on the speedo for the using or electronics either. Are they the same as the other garden variety speedos they sell through other vendors that are not Speedster specific?
