Since they're round, rather than oval as required for the VW head lamp assembly. How about placing those grills at the bottom of the trim ring and fashioning a curved aluminum plate upper "eye-brow" filler piece for the top. Drill the aluminum upper crescent with large holes, and . . . .

Somewhere I've seen a site in the UK that sells them for like $30 dollars. I've always wondered how they get $100 for them here. Search the forum and I'm sure you will find it.
