Shake Down Cruise for Ivy The Ivory Imposter

It was a beautiful day on Sunday so I took Ivy, the Ivory Imposter, out for her shake down cruise in the Fresno County Sierra Nevada foothills. She's a sweet little ride and she passed with flying colors. She goes on eBay this Thursday.

BTW - how did you attach the camera?

Nice run Troy. I'm guessing that you mounted the camera to the engine grill somehow. Any chance you could snap a picture of that?

Yes, can we please see how you mounted the camera. Guessing you have one of the GoPro cameras, nice wide angle lens. They claim to have eliminated the wind noise but there still is some buffeting and not enough engine. Can that be improved with some tweaking?

Looks like the same GoPro setup I used to film my Speedy video a couple of weeks ago. They come with a real nice suction cup mount.

I have the digital view finder on the back of mine and it comes with a partially opened back, which is probably why there is more wind noise than engine. I'll have to use the closed back next time.

We had a GOPro camera mounted on the windshield of the Speedster on our big trip last year and the suction cup let go at about 65 mph. The camera departed to the right and Fran snatched it with her right
hand before it went over the side. Any Major League catcher would have been proud of the catch. Since then, we tied it down a bit with a tether going into the trunk. They are excellent cameras and a real bargain too, but they lack an indicator light on the rear to see that it is on and recording...just a minor annoyance. MUSBJIM knows about this...

The lack an indicator light on the rear is why I also bought the digital viewfinder. It also makes it a little easier to frame your view.

I will play the U Tube video in February. Given the reports on what our winter in central Illinois is projected to be like, I will need to see short sleeves, winding roads and snowless terrain to keep my sanity and provide hope for the spring.
