Clear 3m or similar bra - stone guard material directly under the hard top to body contact points.
Molds for Plasticon style hardtops is for sale on eBay:
Mike - That one fits right to the back seat line and not over the soft top clips. If it had that piece line the NL one it would work (with some water proof foam). The over the door opening is not lined up as I would have thought (for a good seal). I see why Alan added 2 ".

Looks like a busy shop. That poor “904.”

Starting with roll up windows is a good option or a better option if you can snag an IM. Just saying
Some CMC also have windup window and a taller windshield and top (but rather rare). It was an $895 add-on back in late '80s - cannot be easily retrofitted to normal Speedster.

You're right, Ray. But how many of those were actually made? Finding one now would be especially rare.

Yeah, been bidding on them on BaT since last September. More fool me for not going all in on that stone grey Pre-A IM back in November...

Both of them…….. 😉
In 25 years of this stuff, I have never seen even one.
They were also sold as Fiberfabs. Here’s one on BaT or Bring More Cash as I like to call it.

the rolls up windows are certainly more work and a little bit of a PITA but not impossible. We put together a nice system on the roadster builds I am doing using a donor fiat worm gear. There isn’t much to the window channels. The key is getting the locations right on a typical speedster replica door shell. We had the advantage with the roadsters in that our doors are molded directly from an original car so the indents and locations for the frames are all there. If I remember, CMC used a donor from a Chevette.

I can guarantee that Greg has posted that ad more times than CMC produced that kit.
I had a CMC ( Paperwork was FiberFab) roll up window speedster very early on 1992? in my build days, bought it in Indiana PA did a few thigs to it and it was sold. Yes, Chevette window tracks. Over all with the top up the car looked " lumpy" with poor lines.
"Over all with the top up the car looked " lumpy" with poor lines."
That's probably because the tops offered by CM were too tall and that made them "lumpy". You could wear a top hat inside of a CMC with the top up.
I went for the VS top on my CMC for two reasons:
- Some mouse ate a couple of big holes in my CMC top and;
- The VS top sat lower and looked 100% better.
Of course, I had to cut two inches off of the height of the top bows to get everything to fit and look right, but it was worth it.
And I wasn't kidding about CMC selling two of the roll up window kits - Merklin found one of them. I wonder where the other one is? 😉
Didn't jimmy V have the other one? Think he said he regretted selling it in a recent thread. Think it was red too - so maybe the same one?
I agree rollup windows FF/CMC are rare. I've seen less than 10 for sale over the years. Several weren't even advertised as having the rare option. $895 seemed high when I ordered my CMC kit in 1988 BUT it would be hard to duplicate it today for that price. CMC also made a whale tail for the Speedster as well as the infamous 359 - seems # of 359's was about 220.

Correct, I owned a CMC Cabriolet with flared fenders that had roll up windows. It was powered by a Mazda 13B rotary engine with a radiator in the frunk of the car. Being a Cabriolet the windshield is different than the Speedster and the top and head room is taller. I really didn't know how rare this car was when I owned it back in the Mid 2000's I hadn't found the SOS site or I might have realized what I had. I sold it and some years later found the FF Californian Speedster that I had converted to Suby power and couldn't figure out why it didn't have wind up windows like the "other Speedster" I owned. It had an ugly whale tail as well and Harley Davidson motorcycle mufflers. One of the pics is next to the Beck Spyder I owned that was powered by a 2.4L Type 1 engine with Porsche upright fan.

I was hoping someone would buy the hardtop mold on eBay I posted above.
