After talking to Henry and crunching the numbers I've decided to bring the IM back home.

With the money I have in this car it just makes sense for me not to sell it.  I'm hoping I'll fall in love with it again, just like I did the first time I owned it, way back in 2000.

Here's a link to some photos.  Henry included a couple of photos of the Vintage Speed shifter to show me the modified shaft.  Because of some weird anomaly with my pan car and the angle of my seat it is a bit of a reach to shift into 1st and 3rd gear.   Both Henry  and I also had the same problem with my CSP shifter.

Ron:

I clicked on the blue highlighted flicker link and got "404 - Page not found"

The link doesn't appear to include the entire string

If you copy the entire string to your browser search window, the flicker stuff pops right up.

Just a heads up, folks.

And ron, if You don't fall back in love with that car, I certainly would.......

Ron.  That's a beautiful car.  When I originally bought my used IM I thought I made a huge mistake.  There were so many things cosmetically that I did not like.  But after removing the bumperettes, getting new wheels, steering wheel and Coco mats the car finally started becoming my own and taking on my personality.  Oh, and new cam with 20 more hp didn't hurt.  Maybe your car just needs a personality adjustment.  Changing the wheels or adding a Retrosound is a lot cheaper than getting a new car.

Phil is right Ron, there is a point where if you basically have the car sorted the way you like it and you have reached the low point of the depreciation curve, your car will pretty much hold it's value now for a long time while you get to enjoy it for a much longer period.   Ray  Sometimes I wish I would have kept my original IM, just saying.

Here's the correct link:  ! https://flic.kr/s/aHsksKvP8C

While Henry had the car, getting it ready for sale, I had him take the engine down to the short block to make sure everything looked good.  While it was partially apart I had my new Steve Tims stage two heads and Pauter rockers switched out for a set of cheaper rockers and my old set of  ported CB heads (smaller valves).  Now I wish I'd kept the Steve Tims heads/ Pauter rockers on the engine.

I'm sure it will be fast enough......for now.

Ron and anyone else who may not know.  There is a handy little link option at the top of the message box when creating a link while logged in from a PC.  It sort of looks like a figure 8 tilted to the right.  If you highlight a word or words and then click that link button it will open a window that you paste your link into, so you don't have to paste the entire link in the message.  Watch, I highlighted the word paste above and put the link in there.  I'll do it here to.  Click on either of those words and it will open you page.

It isn't there when I post from my Android phone.  Too bad.

You know how I feel, Ron. You have, hands down, the best looking roadster, period.

Sorry, Marty and Phil, but Ron's car checks all of my boxes - including the wheels!

Of course, I drive a very copper colored speedster, so I'm inclined to go with the more unique look.

The colors of the body and interior are amazing! I'm really happy you're keeping it, Ron.

Ron, how do you get away with earbuds in both ears out your way? Ray

The same way others get away with speeding, talking on the cell phone, running through red lights, and not stopping behind the first line of the crosswalk, etc. It's a matter of too many violators/violations and too few traffic cops.

Well, bro, it looks as if the jury has rendered its verdict in this case.

You are guilty as charged of Speedster ownership, and sentenced to life.

Don't worry, Mum and me and your other brother Ron will visit once in a while...

We have a spare bedroom-open invitation to you and your wife.

Spoken like a true law enforcement officer.

Yes, it's also illegal out here in B.C.

In my weak defense, I keep the volume down and can hear 'outside' noises as well as when I wear my regular noise suppressor ear plugs.  As many of you know, wind noise can be really tiring after driving at highway speeds for a couple of hours.

I only wear them when driving on the highway and only when the top is down.

Recently installed new stereo with amp.  I find that at 70-75 mph wind noise makes it just about impossible to enjoy tunes.  However at 55-60 mph tunes sound just fine.  I almost always take the back roads so I just crank the car speakers.  Key word however is AMP.  Having the power to crank is vital for crisp and clear sound, something that I only recently learned.

I'm no better Ron. I crank my stereo when I'm driving and it can certainly be heard more than 50 feet away which is the basis for a citation here in California. LOL

Don't worry about the Buds, Ron.  Been using earbuds on my bicycle rides for years.  Change the stuff depending on the ride and mood.....Lots of tunes, occasional Science Friday blogs, the New Yorker audio articles, pretty much anything that looks interesting.  Have absolutely no problem hearing anything going on around me - cars approaching, kids playing, birds chirping, other bikers talking, all that stuff.

If I had them cranked like some kids do these days, maybe that might be an issue - mostly for them when they go deaf in a few years - but not for me.  My daughter gave me a pair of Bose noise cancelling and wind sealing buds for the Speedster.  THOSE are great, but they cancel out a bit too much for the bike - great at 70-75 on a turnpike, though.

Gordon, I recently bought a pair of wireless blue tooth ear buds and I love them.  No more cords to worry about and they sound great to boot.

I do still wear my corded ear buds when I run, because they're the only ear buds I've worn that will stay in my ears for my entire run.  They have ribbed ends that sit deep in the ear canal and really block out the noise.
