Great post.

I have a quick story like this.

I see you said "in a Bar" ... My 1st experience with a replica was a red little gem placed inside a local watering hole (as a display) then they shut the walls off. That little car languished there for 20 years - maybe more. It was really unloved.

The place went under / and then obviously closed. Not long after I get a call (I am known in my area for sports cars) and some contractor guy is asking me what a 1957 PORSCH Speedster could be worth. He goes on to tell me about the little red machine that was inside of this bar. He tells me that the new owners of the building wanted the car out of the premises - and had told him "you can have it if you can get it out of here - and then repair what it took to remove the wall."

He was ecstatic. So... I tell him "its a great car, I have known of it for years & years... Replicas like it in that poor condition sell for about $2000..."

He was like "R E P L I C A?"

I never did hear what happened to it.

Yeah, CMC did have one helluva sales staff. Unfortunately, it's manufacturing and shipping departments couldn't quite keep up! One of their salesmen snagged my name from somewhere and grabbed on like an alligator - he just started twisting and turning like a gator. Luckily I knew all about CMC - courtesy of Curt Rodgers (?) newsletter. Took near five years to get them to stop calling me.

CMC/Fiberfab made a good product - if you could ever get all the pieces. I think the entire sales staff went on to be lawyers and/or politicians.

Welcome aboard and enjoy the trip!
