$100 for a pair on VS seems a little rich for vinyl, considering later Beetle boots can be had in leather for $25. Anyone find source? If not I guess I will put my wife to work.

I stitched up mine from vinyl left over from the build.
Larger fabric stores usually have a section of upholstery vinyl in an assortment of colors so you might find what you need there, also.
I agree, tho......a "Benjamin" for a pair of boots seems pretty steep (probably why I did my own....)
Going along with Gordon's logic..... You could go to an automotive upholstery shop and pick up a "scrap" for practically nothing, if they have anything that matches. (very likely .)
I agree with making your own. Don't have to be a stitch artist to do them. I bought new seats from VS and at the same time an extra yard of material for $39.00. You can send them a snip of material from the underside of something and they can try to give you a good match. Then you'll have plenty of material to try. I didn't care for their brake boot so figured out my own pattern.
Good luck.
Made mine out of a sleeve from an old leather jacket. Staples, snaps and some velcro hold them together and attach to the places on the car they need to attach. My cost for both items is less than $6 and maybe an hour's tinkering.

And now you have a bitchen leather vest...

Knew I would get some good ideas here. Thanks. I do have fabric left over but some black leather might be nice.

What? You're not into leather vests?

Well, you see, all he has are these chaps and he's hesitant to cut out the two circular areas needed to make the boots.
ahh yes... the uber rare Hollywood 'cheek chillers'.
Daughter sewed mine from very leather looking vinyl. Added drawstrings, turned out great. Took some cutting and fitting and velcro.
I just kinda eyed mine in.
For the first year or so it was just a cut-off jacket sleeve, the cuff forward, snapped. I bunched up the excess between the seats (you can get away with that in a TD replica).
I modded my e-brake handle to eliminate the stock adjusters for a narrower, more TD-ish look. Looped the cable over the top and clamped it. Then I folded the jacket sleeve inside out and stapled it to conform it more closely to the stick.
I did not take any pics of this process but you can get the idea.
Couple test fits and then I put some grommets in & fastened it to the studs that used to hold the heater controls (those were elsewhere on my car). Little velcro, et voila.
