Shift Boot Options

I want to improve the look my stock VW shifter boot has. I want something a bit more compact than the large leather ones I see on some Vintage cars (nothing personal!). Does anyone have any good ideas or know of good sources to purchase an alternative? I wonder if the smoother low-profile boot from an early 911 will work?

Please take a look at John Leader's installation (02 JPS SPDST) and my retrofit (JOHN H VS) in the files section. Is this something like what you are looking for?
