Shifter Diameter

For x-mas my brother bought me a custom made mahogany Porsche crested shift knob - looks great and perfectly matches the Nardi steering wheel. Problem is the maker didn't have the right diameter for the stick and the hole is too big for the knob (yeah, I know it sounds funny). Does anyone know the diamter of the Vintage Speedster shifter so I can get this thing remade? Any help would be great.

Maybe you could get something like a helicoil or an insert to fit inside the knob and fit the shifter shaft.
