I am considering replacing the shifter in my IM and would appreciate advice and suggestions. The goal is a more precise feel. I just watched a video of a shifter with a nylon Porsche-style bushing. It is said to reduce vibration. That sounds good but my goal is a more precise feel.  Here is a link to a pic of my current shifter. I assume it is the original shifter.

What you've got is the original shifter Henry put in the car (an EMPI prettied up). It's not a bad shifter, so I'm concerned about making a recommendation for something else.

There will be the usual nods to both Berg and CPC shifters, as both were (in turn) the go-to shifters... before Vintage Speed came along. Vintage Speed makes the one you linked, but they also make their standard model without the nylon bushing. I swapped out the EMPU that my IM came with for one, and have never looked back.

I am about to order the VS shifter. The nylon Porsche-style bushing seems like a good idea. I am a bit unclear about the differences between the CNC base and the cast base.  Trent from VS said that with the CNC base, you can adjust the tightness of the shifter throw by turning the shifter base. It is unclear to me what part of the base turns, how it then gets locked in position, and whether it might loosen up.
