I have finally fun out of patience with the stock shifter in my Beck. There are some older threads discussing Vintage Speed shifters. The one they list for Speedster replicas is 11.5" which seems very long. Even the 10.5" is longer than the stock one. What does the group suggest?

I've got the "Speedster" length (10.5"), and it's great. If you want shorter, you can always cut it down and re-thread the end.
Or you can get a Berg shifter, any length you want, for about the same money as a CSP, delivered.
If you want a shift ball instead of the traditional Berg "T" shift handle, order the "Add Ball Handle" option when you order the shifter.
Google "Berg Shifter" in your browser...
Berg should spend a little $$ on their web site - very difficult to see product.

Above is a little better for pictures. I like the $15 extra polished base and extra cost polished ball knob.
PLUS made in USA.
Originally, I had a Berg 11" 60% throw, with lockout reverse. The shifts were super short, but a bit notchy. They were so short that half the time I didn't think I had made a complete shift to the next gear.
I really liked the shifter, but didn't think it was a good match (esthetically) for my speedster.

I love my Vintage Speed shifter! I like the look and the shift.
I went with the CSP (I think I was the first here) because it seemed like the best out there that looked appropriate for a Speedster. I didn't know Berg had a ball handle available, but I still prefer the look of the CSP. I have driven Gordon's car and feel like the shift actions are comparable. After 7 years I still love my CSP.
Just received a new Vintage Speed 356 Speedster replica shifter for my Beck. Ready to install. Any tips/suggestions?

The Vintage Speed 356 replica shifter is in. Carey did the install in about 20 minutes. WOW, what a difference! The added length and slight bend has the exact ergonomics I was looking for. And the precise gear engagement plus short throws (I got the 40%) is an incredible improvement. Highly recommend.
Vintage Speed is a great company. When I ordered my 356 shifter I asked them if they could shorten the shaft for me (can't remember how much). They said, "No problem".
how about pics of the Vintage Speed, or is that it at the top of this thread?
I have CSP and it is very good. Pics show with black ball it comers with, and the wooden Porsche crest knob I later installed -- matches steering wheel better.

I bolted mine on and nailed it with no adjustment needed.
Just saw the wood porsche crest shift knob, where did you find it? And could it be adapted to fit a Vintage stick ?

I found this one at the Carlisle flea market, as I recall.
