I'm not real happy with my stock one. Are these shifters worth the $200. ? What about the "lift-up" detent to get into reverse? Is this awkward to use? Is this shifter better than stock for staying out of reverse in a fast 1 to 2 shift?.......Bruce

Both VintageSpeed and CSP are very well-made shifters. Of course, Vintage looks more like the original.
In the six years I have owned my Vintage shifter I have never hit reverse shifting from first to second, or third to second, so the lockout works well.
Shifting into reverse requires a very slight lift so you have to change your grip to make the shift.
The "lift up" shift becomes second nature after a few runs through the procedure.
If you want a side-by-side comparison of the two shifters go to the link that Wolfgang listed. It has a photo I took of my CSP and Vintage shifters.
Personally, I prefer the look of the Vintage shifter, but both are very well made, as are shifters made by Gene Berg.
Love mi Vintage Speed shifter. Bolted right in perfectly the first time.
another vote for VS, it's a very high quality unit! i love mine!
I like mine too. Minor shifting problems so far appear to be due to installer error--me, installing the transaxle with a mid-mount of my own design.
Another vote for VS. love mine. Owner was happy to customize length, color (black or ivory), and thread size (in the event you want to use Porsche thread size knobs M10 x1.5)... VS owners is great to work with and happy to answer any questions.
