Does anyone know where I may obtain the coupling to attach a stock VW shiftrod to the transmission shaft ? I had the chance to inspect a '98 Beck 550 and was informed this was the setup the car came with new. I presently have a Jamar setup with a split aftermarket shiftrod and need to adjust it constantly. The setup on this car was a simple bushing with a tab that was connected to a stock shiftrod . Are some Beck parts currently available or would this have to be custom fabricated ? Thanks for any info that may be passed my way.....Rick

Beats me, Rick, but I plan on a visit to Phoenix next month, weather permitting, to have a Brandwood installed. I had a chance to drive a car with one installed a couple of weeks ago. What a difference! Short throw that snicks into each gear positively and easily. I contacted Beck; they no longer offer the connection our cars have, instead offering their own cable setup. They recommended the Brandwood instead of theirs, saying it was easier to retrofit. Costs about $600, including installation. Jim Cunningham is da man there.(Brandwood@earthlink.net).

Rick,.

I fabricated a rod system using the Jamar components at each end and ditched everything in between. My pics are under the SpyderMike folder in Photos. I included a sketch as to what I bought and how it went together. Total cost was less than 150 including a anew chrome shift box. Mostly solid rod and ujoints and heim joints.

FYI,
Mike
