Thanks for that, Lads. Small discovery here...

I rescued a little dinghy boat last fall at the marina and have been converting it to sail power over the winter. It turns out that one of the rudder parts, the pintle, is an exact fit into the door trim that holds the side curtain pins. Shows hope now.

Here's a poor pic of the two parts together.

Unfortunately, he isn't going to tool up just to make a couple of sets.  I have to order in volume.  When I have 20 sets of windows made, I have to order 80 posts.  Then, I have to take them to a plater to be chrome plated.  On top of that, they are nothing like the posts that come with regular side curtains.
I think you might have better luck getting them from Beck or from Vintage.

Nope.

Heat it up and bend it.  Just use lots of heat and polish it (steel wool) after it's bent so you like it.

The bottom end, going into the door top bumper, is unthreaded and just slips into the round sockets in the door.  That nut on the shaft and against the door bumper is a nylok stopnut and is simply pressed onto the shaft to give you a visual reference of how far to push it into the Socket.  Something else could be used for that if you want a more decorative look.

If you live near the coast or other salty environment, you may want to spend more to get bronze wool.  Most marine stores will stock it.  Any type of wool that you use leaves transfer particles on the bolt.  The steel wool particles that remain on the bolt will rust, while the bronze particles are non-ferrous.
