I've had guys tell me that it's the same as the later beetle trim, some others saying that it's wider like the older pre 67 trim, what is it? Is it custom made?

there is enough side trim for everything, but you'll have to cut / bend the enbds to fit properly.

hey mike, i have the CMC roll of that stuff, but i was told it fades and the chrome peels off. have you expereinced any of that?...

I bought mine at CDN TIRE, works great and doesn't peel off and sticks like mad. In fact the Ghia only had the molding on the drivers door because when it came back from the body shop he plugged the holes where the trim went. It only took 2 days for the plugs on the drivers door to fall out so I put the original trim on. I didn't want to drill to find the others so I installed the stick on. GREAT.
The new stuff is not plated on plastic, it's alu color extruded so there is no peeling. in all that BC rain

When using the stick on you can snip the ends to make a nice point.
The one on Fern has like a black leather in the middle. It's extruded plastic leather look with chrome trim. (plastique)
On the Ghia it's a chrome only trim. Both are CDN Tire wheel well trim that comes in a 18 foot section. Available at your local auto parts store.

If you want the really nice extruded aluminum trim, you can get it from IM, JPS, or from the 356 suppliers like Stoddard. Be warned - it ain't cheap.
Lane - He's in South Africa too - so double the price to cover shipping! I'd stick with the VW bug stuff if you want a vintage look.

Yup lane, I'm from SA. I currently have bug trim on my car, but the pins that are holding it on are pretty crappy and I constantly have to re-attach trim that's popping off.
But we do get the plastic stick on stuff, which is probably what I'm going to end up going with.
