Just got new side trim from vintage? Anyone know how does it attach with clips?
thanks for the information. that sure was fast.
Lay out the 6 pieces making sure you have the right ones in the right places. To make sure you have the right size drill bit, test drill a hole on another piece of material, make sure that the clip fits securely before using that drill bit on the speedster.
Set the clip into the hole and push the pin in making sure it is flush to the clip face (or it will dimple the molding)
To attach the molding to the clip you catch the lower edge of the clip and rotate the molding up against the upper edge of the clip and gently push it onto the clip with the heal of your hand, you'll hear if click into place. Take you time in cutting the small piece the is rearward of the door handle, best to use a Dremel cut off wheel and then lightly file the edge smooth. That piece, I use a single clip and a couple a spots of silicone to keep it from rotating on the clip.

Thanks Alan. No, I don't need a piece or some additional molding. The kit I bought came with several pieces, so I'm good and the dash is looking good too!
as an alternative - i didnt want to drill holes in my body after it was painted, so i went to an autobody paint supplier and bought a big roll of 3M adhesive-backed foam tape in the same width as the trim.

Giday, Alan. I lost a couple of small bits of trim last Spring. One
that IM cannot supply is a little chrome piece about 1 3/4" long and pointed at one end. It's the most aft piece on the right side. Any chance you've got something that old sitting around and for sale ? Thanks.

I'll be happy send you a small piece with the pointed end that you can cut to the correct length, but it is not chrome, it is aluminum. Just email me your address vanatic99 at yahoo.com

Matt--you are right about getting a fast response from the Doctor.
I'd bet that he could actually install the strip faster than he could tell you how!
