Can someone steer me in the right direction for side trim replacement. The CMC kit car I have has plastic stick on side trim all the chrome has peeled off. Looking for who make a replacement.
Thanks

You might try contacting Vintage or Special Editions... (see vendor lists) They will most likely have them in stock, and the quality will be as good as it gets....
The CMC plastic chrome side trim was a roll of universal trim. I didn't even use mine because I thought it would not stick for long. (Guess I was wrong!) I'd look in JC Whitney, Amazon or local auto/custom shop. Like this -

Other manufacturers use either VW bug hollow aluminum side strip (SS available too) with their plastic clips (drilling required) and others use solid extruded aluminum and OEM 356 clips (drilling required). (You may have to cut and rebend the end on door piece).

Here's link to the solid aluminum -

Here's the real 356 stuff - price not that bad ($120):

A pre-cut kit for another builder will be different in spacing by the door handle - as that space varies.
Or remove the stuff that's there (heat gun/GooGone) and buff gel coat and leave it off. On a white car perhaps a mark won't remain.
Or leave it off completely for the Outlaw look.
The aftermarket very thin gauge Beetle trim ( VS has previously supplied) it distorts when pushed onto the OEM VW plastic clips.
Hey Thanks for all the information. I will remove it and see what it looks like ?????

If the trim is stuck on with double-stick tape there won't be any holes in the body to fill.
I went through the same thing on my CMC (white), after removal the gel coat will be a different shade of white. I installed the kit from Stoddard with modifications by me which is archived here on the site.
For my CMC I got side trim from IM. For the doors they custom cut it for the lengths needed in front of and behind the handles. The two sides differed a bit.
Looks better without to me.
