After 1.5 years of adjusting the door latches on my 2007 Vintage super widebody with 10,000 miles, it finally occured to me that some of the rattles were coming from inside the doors. I removed all but the front 2 screws holding the door panel in place and I did not remove the inside handle, because I could not figure out how to get it off. I was able to move the panel far enough out to easily inspect and get to all the interior door hardware. It turned out that everything in there needed to be tightened. I also placed a 1 X 1/2 X 1/8th inch thick piece of foam insulation, in 2 places, between the rod that goes from the inside door handle to the latch. That prevented the rod from making contact with the door shell. Results??? No more door rattles! At least for now.

Sorry, no pics, but there really isn't that much going on in there and you will quickly see what needs to be tightened. 2 nuts on the inside door handle, 3 nuts on the rod from the outside door handle push button and 1 on the bolt at the bottom of the door. Mine had 3 nuts on it acting as spacers between the door and the latch rod. The bolt passes through from the outside of the bottom of the door. This nut should not be tightened too much or the thumb button will not be able to be pressed.

I saw the pin on the inside door handle and tried to get it out, but it didn't budge so I decided to leave it. Like I said, there was enough room to get to everything by just flexing the panel out and the panel did not get tweaked. The whole thing took about 1 hour.

As for the outside latch, I will just continue to wrap it with electrical tape.
