Very nice video. What kind of engine? Are the seats, doors and dash leather or vinyl? I think I saw an earlier post that it has around 9k miles, is that correct. What is your asking price before eBay?
Steve
It has a little under 9,700 miles on it and is registered as a 64 VW and has tags that are good until August of 2013. There was no documentation with the car, but the previous owner was told by the original owner that it has a 1915cc, but there is no way to tell for sure without taking the engine apart. It has dual carbs with the upgraded linkage, it starts right up, runs fine and feels like it could be a 1915, but it could also be a 1776; there's just no way to tell for sure. It has a "Freeway Flyer" transmission, coco mats, carpeted trunk and the standard badging. The gauges, signals and lights all work fine and the interior, top and tonneau are in like new condition. It also has a set of my "Crusin" windows and headlight grills.
I can tell from the underside that it's never been driven in the rain and the paint is in beautiful shape, with just a couple of typical small stone chips on the front. The chrome is in great shape too and it also has nipple hubs, the cool kind, not the wanna be flat hubs like the Pleasanton car with the red interior has.
It has Alante vinyl, which is nearly impossible to tell from real leather and the Buy It Now price on eBay will probably be $21,000, but $20,750 will get it.

Thanks Troy, I saw your response in my thread. What is a freeway flyer transmission? Also when on the freeway doing 70 mph what rpm is you engine showing on the tach. What kind of carbs does it have. Do you sell stoneguards as well?
Steve
Steve - 1st, 'Welcome to the Madness'. 2nd, you can't do wrong buying a car from Troy. Troy is kind of a perfectionist so you can be sure his cars are well sorted and cosmetically dialed in. Takes the guess work out of buying with confidence. This is reflected in his cars being appropriately priced. Best of luck on your Speedster search.
Troy - another car nicely done!
Troy--that is a gorgeous car.
Seems I read on here someplace that Kirk chalks the CC number on the back side of the fan housing. See if it's there on tour 1915.
I'll second that opinion on Troy. The sportos, the speedsterheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, waistoids, dweebies, dickheads - they all adore him. They think he's a righteous dude.
Killer car Troy. It's hard to beat a silver speedster.
You mean it isn't all smoke & mirrors?
That was a joke...... Troy's got the photos dialed in, he does a really great presentation when selling these cars on EBAY.
Well thank you. It's nice to be loved even if it's by a bunch guys!
Jack.
Roland told me that Kirk sometimes writes the engine size on the back of the shroud and i posted it on here. I checked this one and there is nothing there.
Steve.
A Freeway Flyer trans is a 3:88 and you will be spinning a little over 3000rpm at 70mph.
I believe the carbs are either Kadrons or Empi with upgraded linkage. I'll look closer in the morning.
Meanwhile, here is what the eBay ad will look like.
Steve---your skills at presenting a car for sale are damned impressive to this old marketing guy! No wonder you sell so many Speedsters. The detailed write up along with the outstanding pictures and vids make an irresistable combo. Of course being able to offer the finest cars to be found helps too!
Good job, Steve---I know this one will sell quickly.
Ummmm. It's Troy.
Hey Jack.........that was what I call a 'senior moment' there.......I have them all the time,
especially before I have my morning coffee.......I sometimes can't remember names....you knew it was Troy!
He is the only one of you folks I've actually met.....at the Pacific Grove Rally.
Troy what is your schedule next week? How does one send a PM on this board?
Of Course, Troy---my slip. I had just emailed with Steve Lawing and guess I had Steve on my pea brain.
My dumb lapse takes nothing away from my sentiments about your car locating and marketing expertise! S'cuse moi.
Jack's right. You do a good job, Troy!
Hey Jack. Just teasing. I knew you knew my name.
Steve.
In town all week next week. What do you have in mind?
The eBay ad is live now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...plicar-/221130589373
Troy---thanks---it's all good!
Troy, I sent you an e-mail to the one lmentioned in your eBay listing.
Sold Sold Sold!!! Going to Arlington, VA.
Another quick sale for Troy, way to go bro!
Holy Sh!t! $21k! !!
Think Ima sell mine... haha
I love seeing these things sell for more than what I paid. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.
Way to go, Troy! Another satisfied customer!
The car just arrived today. Very happy new owner, thanks Troy!
You're very welcome. Glad to see you here. Welcome to the madness!
Hey Matt, I wanna know who gets to drive the car... Your ID pix has a very nice looking partner there my new friend... or is she strictly a right seater? either way like Troy said... welcome to the Madness and get that S.E.G off your face...
P.S. did you go back and check the garage twice to make sure it was still there before locking up last night?
I did...
Speedster "D"
She gets to drive too, but I've got some protection in that the seat is too far back at the moment for her, so we'll see if I get around to putting a set of rails on it.
Looking forward to the insanity, fully expecting that S.E.G. to go away when I have to sheepishly post my first stupid question.

Nice try Matt. The seat has rails and I'm pretty sure it will go forward far enough for her to drive, but I'm not going to tell her!
Here is a link to all of the pictures of your car that you can share with your friends.
troy, i wish you would have had a car for sale when i was buying mine. looks great. =)

I think I had this black one when you were looking, but I knew you were looking for a certain color.
http://kvan.hopto.org/blackvintagespeedster.htm
You would have saved a little money, but you got exactly the car you were looking for and it's a beauty. I know you have had more than your share of problems, but hang in there and they will all be resolved.
Troy
Hi Troy, I have a CMC speedster that I just replaced the top rails from Vintage Speesters. Will your cruisin windows fit right on with no drilling etc etc....? Bob

Probably, but just to be safe, measure the distance from the front of the rail to the center of the first grommet and the distance from center to center of the grommets. There is about an inch of adjustment either way.
Troy
Alright....another east coast speedster!!!!!!!!!!!! Cant wait to see the car and Troy at the spring meet!
Hello Troy:
The wire mesh headlight covers on the silver car featured in your initial post. Did you get those from Kirk at VS ? I am looking for a pair and was curious as they look great.
Thanks, Grant
Hello Grant.
The wire mesh headlight stone guards were on the car when I bought it and I don't know who sells them. However, I'm sure somebody here will know.
GTman, ref: wire mesh headlight guards
There's a SOCer who fabricated a set of guards that were terrific and UBER CHEAP!!... Home Depot stuff
I've forgotten his name but he left a 'connect the dots' DIY post. I hope someone here has better recall than I do and will jump in with that information...for GTman... and for myself.
I pickedgot picked mine up at Sierra Madre http://www.sierramadrecollecti...ct_detail&p=1897
They are 110.00 and ten minutes to install.
I just stopped in at Sierra Madre today and picked up a set for the latest silver Speedster.
Thanks all regarding the mesh headlight covers.
Has anyone tried to remove the chrome trim around the headight to rechrome ?
I spoke with Kirk about this and he said he didn't sell the chrome headlight trim separately. I'd have to buy a new headlight bucket. Seems like there should be a way to extract the trim from the rest of the assemly to rechrome or replace.
Thanks, Grant
