single Weber 44 IDF hitting lid...

I have a single port end casting connecting to the manifold which comes with a Weber 44 IDF. The velocity stacks nor the 3 1/2" air filter clear the lid. In fact I haven't tried but I would not be suprised if the carb with nothing on top wouldn't hit. Any suggestions? I just called the company I bought them from and they told me I need to go with Kadron Kit T1 (dual 40mm solex carbs). Any suggestions here?

Go with duals, they'll run better, and more poop

what are my options since I have single intake heads?

I am up late after enjoying all the festivities and uh, afterglow of my 53rd birthday party.... so I'm answering this Q half assed for now. I think you can get manifolds for Solex/Kadron 40s and also Weber ICTs for SP heads. I'll look through my catalogs tomorrow and let you know.

Do a search for VW Aircooled parts and you'll get some of the suppliers online catalogs... CB Performance is a great place to start. so is aircooled.net

The Ice has finally left Nanaquacket Pond, Lots more boats being trailered around and un-wrapped and they're putting the pennants back on the moorings in the Yacht Basin.....Spring must be just around the corner!!

A few more days of cold, then I'll have the Speedster out terorizing the old neighborhood like yours used to do up here. Someone has to keep all those buzzy-exhaust, performance pretenders running scared!

I also had a similar problem with the 40mm Kadrons, which I posted a message about a couple of months ago: "Kadron Carbs hit body" Read the text, and the solution; not optimal, but I'm going with it for now...

Thanks Gordon! And Tim, it must be in the body mount of your replica. My VS has plenty of room for Kads.

Jim...There's a fairly significant difference between CMC and VS, at least, VS is higher on the left and right side of the engine compartment, carb area. Hoods won't interchange - ask me how I know.

ok.... short air filters, got it. What carb. kit exactly, should I go with? I have the weber in the mail going back to the supplier. I have about a week to figure out exactly what I need. Remember I only have single port heads.
