There is a really nice length of ribbed aluminum threshold sill that came on the early Porsche 914s and a subsequent length of ribber black plastic that came on the later 914s, either would be perfect and could be easily shaped to fit.

Karmann Ghias and MGBs had similar sill protectors, either would work.

Look around, there's a whole lot more out there than home building supplies of one sort or another. They should be your last resort, not the first choice.
"Or, wander around a salvage yard, maybe?"

Almost any BMW is going to have some nifty threshold plates as well. I scooped up some for my Fiat 600 that have that neat little half-round bump up towards the inside to capture/cover the fuzzy door opening gaskets.

Factory fresh is ALWAYS better than home made/home depot for rubber/plastic parts.
Teresa installed tread tape on my door sills. It's kind of like skateboard tape, I guess. It came from the Home 'Pot near us, and has a yellow line through it.

I'm on the fence about it. It seems to tell people it's okay to step there, and then I wind up having to tell them not to. I think it would be a bear to remove.

('Course, I don't have any carpet, and the body looks like crap anyway. I don't think you'll see that in Kelly's 'Red Baron' or Allan Shapiro's 'Ruby' anytime soon.)
