where do you guys buy these.... back when my car got flooded from rain when i found out it wasnt sealed (at all) mine got rusty, along with the dust and dirt that was blowing in through some welded sheet metal, they are pretty much locked in solid. I broke one the other day trying to remove the top half from the bottom part of the track... turns out, they are not removable... any idea what year/style and where to buy new clean, working ones?
I'm not following here on the sliders --- if you use the OEM VW seat track (welded as part of the floor pan) then you are stuck using the seat frame from the VW which would be too high, too wide and really is a non supportive "sit on" vice "sit in" seat. My CMC came with very low profile seat sliders for the fiberglass buckets. I have seen similar sliders for Recaro seats (but $$$). The ones from a 914 would probably work with most any fiberglass seat but would sit higher in front. The 914 seat sliders consists of tracks on the seat (with handle) and a seat sub-assembly that also rocks to lock into about 4 up positions in the front. I'll add some photos later. I'm currently working on a set of 914 seats for my CMC and will document the effort. Currently getting ready to cut the high back headrest off.
When I saw this post I thought they were referring to the "sliders" that we used to call the burgers that White Castle sold in the midwest and actually still do. Sliders I think refer to the grease that comes out them in the frying process, yum, yum. In the 50's you used to be able to buy them for about 10 cents a piece but they were small, one bite and they were gone, many bought a dollars worth that gave them 10 "sliders" all to be eaten in one sitting. The days before health warnings ! LOL.

To clarify;I am currently looking at a set of seats from Cobra, now they offer seat sliders (not burgers)for both a bug and a 356,Iwas just wondering if anyone has used their product and could tell me which would be best. Now MOMS Diner in SOOKE has or use to have the biggest greasiest burger to ever hit a plate, you almost needed a change of clothes when you were done.I think I know where I'm going this weekend. Thanks guys.
went to competition engineering here in phoenix... seems like the best place ive ever been for vw stuff... check them out.

anyway, the there said they're universal sliders and he would call me today to see if he could get me some. so i guess CMC used universals in their kits not vw?
Wolfgang:

Just curious, but how did you mount your 914 sliders to the pan? I ended up using a strap hinge at the rear as the only way I could easily mount them AND allow them to swing up and down. For the toothed piece I used a 3" X 3" X 1/4" thick piece of angle iron and cut three notches for the "tooth" to latch into - seemed to work fine once I realized I needed a wedge-shaped notch (to prevent rattling)!

where do i get the cmc versions? I guess i need to measure my hole spacing... then see if anybody knows something that might work in replacement to what i have as CE called me today and told me nobody carries the generic sliders i have anymore. (the ones that come with cmc's originally) or is this something that Vintage would have now?
