Weird question, but has anybody had a mouse or rat climb into your speedster engine, muffler, block? I swear I smell a mouse or something but haven't located it. I checked under my soft top etc...nothing.

I had one in my block one time. I just started the motor and it went thru the engine and out the muffler. Never came back...It's not likely under the soft top.
This is what mine looked like after 20 years in storage. They used the 1&1 cylinders as the head and lived in the fan housing and heater channels in the body.

I've seen them build nests on top of cylinder jugs - that will sure make engine run hot! They did some real damage to MikeB's - mouse urine really smells bad and is corrosive. I use dryer sheets in my travel trailer - seems to keep them out.
A "lost" shop rag that gets sucked in via the fan and ends up on a cylinder head can do wonders too!
My property is mostly forested and I have a shop and garage located about 150 feet from my house. As you would imagine, I have A LOT of mice running around our garages and if I park one of my cars in there for any length of time I end up with at least one nest in my engine bay.
Funny thing is, I also park my Kubota tractor and Kubota four wheel drive lawn mower (both diesel powered) in my garage/shop year round and in the last 10 years neither has ever had a mice nest in their engine compartments.
I wonder if mice don't like the smell of diesel.
Those Kubota engines are great. I had one in a sailboat years ago. Getting parts from a tractor dealer, was a lot cheaper than going to a Marine dealer!
Just don't go in and order a quart of Kubota orange paint for touch-ups like I did.
$44.00
I should have asked what the quart of paint would cost first. Then, after the shock had worn off, I could have taken one of my painted metal plates, that covers the mower deck pulleys, down to our local Home Depot and had them scan the color. I suspect a quart of something Home Depot sells would go for less than $20.
Live and learn.....
I found some dead babies (mice) under my battery one summer.
Found a nest under my bonnet (hood) Only after driving the car and smelling pee.....I knew it wasn't me.

When storing the car or if you live in a area with field mice, get a box of bounce dryer sheets. No other brand! But a few in the car, hood, engine compartment (take it out before you start the car) These work great in detouring the pests and help with absorbing the moisture.
I have found that a half dozen or so drops of peppermint oil on cotton balls works very well at keeping mice and other vermin away. Bounce dryer sheets work well also. Either choice works and is helpful abating odors also.

Unfortunately, this is just an old car guy's (as opposed to old wive's) tale. Bounce (and Irish Spring soap, the other popular claim) do nothing to keep mice away.
The Rat Zapper is the best thing I've found to kill mice and keep them from dying somewhere inside your car:
