So Cal VW BUS Show! 6-12-2004

My son and I went to a VW bus show today. We wanted to share the pictures with everyone. We hope you like them.

Dad and son had a good time, wish you all could have made it. We did take the speedster and we had a large group of people taking pictures of it in the VIP area. GO SPEEDSTERS!

So many great old buses and pluse I wanted to share the air cooled culture with my son. You have got to start them early right?
He keeps telling me "Dad I want a bus when I grow up"

I was just thinking that if the 67,8,9s are going for around 8 or 9 grand now how much will they be when he is old enough to drive?
Just something else for me to think about.

And guys with buses, especially 21 window models, are spending huge amounts of money on the restorations. I recently saw an ad for a restored 21 window on Samba, and the price....$47,500. Really! Check out the ad:

My '65 with all the little windows and the skyroof cost me $1300.00 back in '68. Talk about a "I wish I knew then what I know now" circumstance, Yikes. My significant other just doesn't understand why I would opt for a VW singlecab pick-em-up truck over a decent 3/4 ton Jimmy...I mean there are trucks and then there are trucks, ya know what I mean Vern?

I can't wait to finish sorting out the speedster so I can get crackin' on my V-dub...Bruce shot a pic of me and his grandson (the chocolate glaze thief) in front of my humble 40 horse when he was out this way

Paul, my wife HATES my single cab. Just because she had to push the single cab to jump start it (only three times), she doesn't like going for rides in it. Women, go figure.

Boy I hear that... Unusal cosmic alignment between our two households; three drivers, five cars and the only one up and running is my V-dub. I'm shuttling everyone hither and yon and what do I get? "Jeez, is it always this loud?" or "We should have left a 1/2 hour earlier" Well duh, it wasn't me what had to put make-up on!

There's Speedster-time, where you want to 'do a drive'
There was turbo-time, where, well you can imagine...
and then there's V-dub Type II time, where time just sort of stands still, you know!

Are any of you VW / Speedster owners ineterested in attending the VW panic in Upland, CA on July 11th?
I am taking three of muy cars there. I have spoke with Gary ( The promoter of the event) and he will accomidate us.

Paul, it's partly my fault. Seems my wife doesn't like weaving all over the road at 85 mph....then I shifted into 5th!
