The only one single time I've come close to being dissed by some snob was once when I was over at Mike Lempert's and one of his repeat customers came over to discuss a wheel for one one of his stable of restored Italian iron. They really seemed like nice folks (his wife was there as well) but when the conversation turned to my car I happened to mention that it was a replica. He said "I know. I could tell it was fiberglass from over here." Other than that, everyone has simply commented that "it's beautiful", or "I bet it's fun". One guy in a 911 Cabriolet caught up to me and a bunch of the local VW guys while on a cruise one day, and was really interested in the car. When he found out it was a replica, his interest got higher because he realized he could afford one. For all I know he's placed an order by now.
Hey atleast me don't to pass up comon sence modern tech parts to our cars pure. I have a lot instore for this little PP, so much so it will not only look as good as a real porsche but will out perform even the new ones.

The guys that think there originals are soo much better and throw out rudeness bring back the meaning of the difference between a Porsche and a Porkupine (the prick thing). This deffently not the issue here with you guys.....

The next guy that gives me crap about my pyle is going to get it. First I'll ask where is his fake porsche at? Then I'll ask where his car is at, when this happens I'll show him all the wrong crap on his car, and if it is 100% correct I'll just take a crap on his hood (boy I hope there is something wrong with his car).....

Let's make a list of the best come backs for jack a$$es.....
Hey Jim,

That is too funny.

Fake breasts are the gift that keeps on giving! those are my brother's wonderful words of advise. He also said, "Marry an orphan"! Wish I could of found one.

I love how these threads always turn into something completely different!
We went from cars to boobs in a heartbeat, but that is just how most men think!

NO WAY SAY IT IS'NT SOO!!!!! A FAKE NONE PORSCHE PART ON A CONCORSE CAR..... CALL THE NEWS PAPER, CALL THE PRESSIDENT, WE NEED TO THROW THEM OUT OF THE COUNTRY, HANG THEM FROM THE TREE AT THE EDGE OF TOWN, OH NO MY KNEES ARE GETTING WEEK, I'M FEELING FAINT, MR. PORSCHE IS TURNING OVER IN HIS GRAVE, I THINK I JUST FELT THE EARTH STOP ROTATING.......

This is too funny, they'll put fake parts on there cars, but they won't let us park our fake cars next to them..... The world of double standards.....

OK, I'm done....

Nice straps, keep me informed when you have the hood straps ready...
Chris and I went to Watkins Glen with the local PCA club a couple of years back (we trailered, they all drove), and we got to do a few "Parade Laps" on the new track (Hoss was there, too). Chris was driving and I gave him the old advice of "Drag your feet along the straights to stretch out a gap to the next car, then hammer the turns!" We had a car behind us with a "souped up", 120hp, real 356 engine on board with a really nice owner who actually was indifferent to replicas. He came over to us after the Parade Laps and said "I was following you pretty close, but then all I would see was a puff of black smoke from your exhaust and, 'Poof!', you took off like a rocket and I couldn't keep up. What the hell have you GOT in there??"

Yup.....you can't beat a replica.....

;>)
Kevin -

My VS is a '95. I'm second owner, original owner sold after 1 year ownership. Something about not having the Speedster around because his son was turning 16 and getting his driver's license (YIKES).

The placement of the Porsche script was the 1st thing I spotted when I initially saw the car. Not worth the effort to me to re-drill/re-locate/re-paint. It's a daily driver for me. Thanks for the kudos.

Looking forward to hooking up with you on one of these SoCal cruises!

Peace - Out!
Hey, Jim

I did not mean to offened you about the script, sorry if I did. I did'nt think you had put it on there like that, and yes it is not worth the effort changing the location. Now if your car needed restoration that would be diffrent. Besides it's a cool thing to be different.....

See you at one of these cruises..............
Kevin - Absolutely no offense taken! I think once you've been on a couple SOC cruises with us you'll understand that I'm too much of a knucklehead (strike that) - too much of a MOOK to take offense over a fake car!

Keep an eye on this site for the next SoCal SOC Cruise!!

Terry - I think Dan's car won that People's Choice award at another event. Wouldn't THAT be too funny if it was at a 356 Club event.

BTW - I run into Dan P. every-so-often at the Cars & Coffee gig here in Irvine. He's the same cool dude just cruising along!!

Peace - Out!

Jim,

I am up for South if you guys want to come on down.

Cheers
Dave

Think about a coastal south run down 101 from Carlsbad, Del Mar to La Jolla Shores, LJ Cove and ending at Windansea Beach http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windansea_Beach. Or we can take it further down into OB, Point Loma out to the light house and over the bridge to the Hotel Del and down the silver strand beach to IB, great eats and stopping points all over and classic Speedster cruising.
Or the mountains.

Is comic con next weekend? trekkies and comic geeks all over. Dont get me wrong I think its all in fun and I enjoy the spectacle and the kids.
Kevin Smith is one of my favorite geeks.
Not sure about traffic impact down here dont really remember any impact at all in previous years. Will check out traffic impact.

Malibu is a little far for me but if thats the cruise have fun and I will catch the next one.

Dave
Gerd - Thanks for the heads-up on the car show in Glendale! I probably would have tried to make it if it weren't for a business meeting I had in Riverside this morning! One of these days I'll make it up there to your neck of the woods!

Dennis - Don't forget to bring back that Kilo you promised me!

Fred - Bill's right, bring that 914 to our next cruise or jump in one of the empty Speedster right seats!
