Whatever happened to the guy who was going to possibly give us a quote on this grill badge?
Replies sorted oldest to newest
I found a mystery vendor somewhere in the far east, I presume, and have asked for a quote. 3.5" diameter, done in the cloisonne style-all gold/brass raised and colors flowing within the raised area. I'm looking for a general idea for quantities, if you are interested, add your name below. A price will obviously be given once I know the guy wants to make 'em. At this stage I'm suggesting two drilled holes for mounting hardware, but have asked if hidden backside hardware is a possibility. I have also attached a sample of what supposedly they are capable of.

I'm interested.
HEY CHECK THIS OUT: Amazing, I got a quick response back and it is very promising. I need to do some math here and work out a few details with the vendor, but the the sample and estimate are very tempting. There will be an initial investment on my part to cover the mold costs, but this looks VERY TEMPTING...I was told that my design could be treated similar to the Jaguar badge. Hardware hidden on back too. I believe I will be able to offer these at a very reasonable price, possibly have them by Carlisle time which could help in the shipping costs if a bunch were drop shipped to the hotel and passed out there.

I'm interested as well
A little concerned about the mounting hardware for a couple of reasons.
1) On most of our cars , mounting this on the Decklid grill requires reaching in from the side to hold a small nut (maybe superglued to your finger tip) & tightening the nut from above. Tightening a nut from the side would be difficult.
2) The bolt length shown might be too long for our application.
Rich, if I remember right, you have a cutout to accommodate your fan shroud, so no problem for you.
Removing the grille entirely is also a major pain.
Hidden hardware is cool, but might make it hard to mount.
On the other hand, one could cutoff the bolts & use 3M trim mounting tape & that would solve the problem too.
Remove the deck lid grill (it takes a minute) cut the long threaded screws to length keeping the nut on the screw so when you back it off it cleans up the end threads) mount the badge, replace the grill...the entire process should take half an hour at most.
I'm in.
I'm in too.
Me too, will go good next my "CORPSE" badge.
I'm in too. May have to add extra cooling though (once running!). I don't mind the visible screws as they seem more secure (Locktite would solve though). I would like to see a recast of the old Corpse one too. I especially like my FL FOG badge.

I'm in. holes or no holes
Here's a little more description, just in case anyone is confused as to the look.
It will be produced in similar fashion to the Jaguar badge (raised lettering/brass look), but obviously have the SOC, WELCOME TO THE MADNESS design.

Amazing response so far in less than 24 hours!
Thanks everyone for the interest.
At this rate it should be a pretty easy decision to pull the trigger and get these into the works. Here's the list of names that said they were interested so far.

It's got more to do with Hosers, Rich....but certainly in the non-derogatory sense.
Sheesh....that xxxxing Wikipedia can reach out in just about any direction, eh ?
And if you have nothing better to do, Youtube Maclean and Maclean Dolly Parton and you'll get an idea of where this Hoser stuff goes sometimes....
