Rich,
That's the equivalent of what goes on here, at least the money went to charity.
In Delaware the tag with "1" on it is reserved for the Govenor. I think "2" is for some other state official but other than that people are obsessed with getting the lowest number they can. Our vanity tags are just names, ect... you cannot request a certain number for a tag. Every once in a while I'll see some really old person driving a "run-a-the-mill" car with a 2 or 3 digit tag and wonder if they know what they have. Most of the crazies that have clawed their way to ownership of one of these "gems" usually put it on their Benz,Porsche, BMW, Jag, ect... to show it off more.
I get the vanity tag thing, some are funny, some not, but I just don't get the number thing. It's only here in Delaware that it has value, or stigma. I can't help but see it as an utter waste of money and a shameless flaunting of supposed wealth.
Rick,
I have had a few inquiries, but no offers.I will take $35.00 plus S/H. Please e-mail me for photo to make sure that this is what you are looking for. This is NOT the corpse badge, but a grille badge from 2005. Never mounted, and in perfect condition. This is the badge that has the Speedster profile on it. Anyone with a picture of this badge please post,as I am unable to post pictures on this site.
I Massachusetts, they issue two plates, multiple numbers and letters, red on white. Some folks have the single plate with sometimes fewer numbers green on white, these were issued something like forty years ago.

My Father has a single three number plate, green on white. We've had those same three numbers since 1956 when the Mayor of Quincy "gave" it to the family. The same single green plate since they were first issued in the 60'/70's.

Nearly everyone the State of Massachusetts wants that damned number plate . . .
