I have a warm spot in my heart for ALL speedsters, but the attention to detail on this car REALLY impressed me. I apologize as I've forgottten WHOSE car it is - plates are TUFF TUB.

Last year here at Paso I saw a couple of VW's that I had never seen before. Guess what, another one shows up this year that I've never seen before. Anybody know anything about this car? Made in Brazil maybe? angela

Hey Steve, That's a PS2 built by VW of Brazil in the 1970's (June 1972 through February 1976). Displacement is 1678cc, normally aspirated, with two Solex 34 PDSIT carburetors. Features a sculpted, sporty 2 seat Coupe body married to a Type 3/4 chassis, Swing Axle Rear Suspension and Type 1 front end. Also known as Project X / Prototype X. The owner is a local of SLO County.

So, I stood on this curve for an hour waiting for the southern speedsters to arrive. Was I ready? Nooooooo. The first 4 or 5 cars flashed by before I got the camera into position and turned on. Sorry guys, this ground photography is hard. Here's what I got.

Here's some more. I shot Karen while we were waiting. She did tell me to get ready, that they would be here any minute. I said no, Jim is going to call. Damn, I hate when she's right. Karen and I had a great time. I hope everyone got home safely.

Angela, that "Tuff Tub" is a dream that belongs to Desi.. Cabana boy from Irvine.. and yes you are right... what an awesome ride..

Angela is right, the detail, fit and finish on this car "Tuff Tub" is excepdtional. Here are three more photos. Check out the white gauges, makes me think of my iPod.

I will be posting some more in a bit, soon as I can get them ready.

The coolest thing about Desi's car is his laser third brake light.
The halogen driving lights are pretty wild as well.
You could do a running advertisement for Lowes, Desi!

I wanted to tell everyone what a great time I had in Paso this past weekend. I met some, but certainly not all of you. Theron (again), Warren, Jerett, Jim, Dezi, Vince, Jim and all the others. And you, of course, Angela. Beautful cars. What a great bunch and a beautiful venue despite a little drizzle. It's a 'gotta do' for next year. The wine was a nice touch and a great guy on the label. A bottle that will sit on the counter for a long while.

Well Jim Ignacio did such a good job with the panorama shot I guess I'll just start posting a dozen or so...

Ray Armstrong did get to Paso with his fresh (first coat) paint job. He also scored a nice engine lid for $40.

Vince sold out!

Sold his speedster for $28,000 to some guy who got it for his girl friend. That is why he is toasting and flashing the victory sign. Said he would hang around the site...

Angela had the best rain protection, and a nice yellow color.

Others had, ummm, well you know.

Prizes were interesting, how come Angela won the first prize which was called by who?

They had a ton of food left over.

I won because: 1. Vince thinks I'm cool (sucker) 2. I had $40 worth of tickets (half mine, half were gifted).

I like it here in Paso so much that I decided to stay for a few more days. I'll leave Thursday morning and head down to Knotts.

Got a nice bike ride in today. (I had shipped the bike down to the hotel). It's about 68-70 degrees and sunny. The fellow at the local bike shop gave me a map and showed some fun local rides with some decent climbing. Gorgeous scenery!
