PEOPLE OF EARTH!!…oh, and SOC knuckleheads as well. Short notice, but really jonesing for a mountain cruise.

Weather permitting, I will be going on a morning cruise up to Mt Palomar on Saturday, Dec 6th. Anyone wishing to join in, meet me at 09:00 in the Park & Ride parking lot on Hwy 76 (just West of  I-15).

The general plan will be:

1) 09:00AM Rendezvous at Park & Ride by Hwy 76/I-15 (just west of I-15).

2) Continue East on Hwy 76 and cruise up on South Grade Rd to Mt. Palomar peak (elevation approx 6,100'), descend on East Grade Rd to Henshaw Lake (elevation 2,700').

2) Continue from Henshaw Lake to Hwy 79 and down S-2 to Hwy 78 to the desert valley, Borrego Springs (elevation 595').

3) Stop for lunch in Borrrego Springs

4) Head back up the mountain road on Montezuma Valley Rd (elevation 4,065') back to Hwy 79/I-15 rendezvous and points homeward.

The route above would take us from the coast, up through the mountains, down to the desert valley and back to the coast!

Estimate mileage would be 160 miles and travel time of 3.5 hours.

Depending on the pleasure of the group, we can alter this route for shorter mileage & drive time.

Got back to Escondido at 4PM. what a great ride today, a drive up Palomar Mt., the observatory, the lake over look, cruse into Borego, a cultural tuor of out door sculpture and fine Mexican dining. I ran into the San Diego BMW club on the way through Julian Must have been 60 or more cars on the road. Great Day and Company.

Thanks all

What a great day of cruising yesterday (Sat. Dec 6th) with the San Diego SOC gang, Rene (Dutch), Larry Bull, Dan Stewart & son (Gavin), Dean & Aileen! Weather couldn't have been more awesome (clear skies & temps in 70s). No traffic to speak of and nothing but open roads ahead of us!

Started our portion of the cruise around 08:00 AM by the coast near USMC Camp Pendleton….
