Looking back over the Pertronix Flame Thrower setup, I see in bold (years later)  "Do Not Use With Solid Ignition Wires". Didn't read -maleness confirmed.

Anyone know what this is about? I'm a putz, just threw in my solid wires. It seems fine but???

I have an old Blue Coil in there I may swap out for a 3 ohm Flame Thrower coil.

Not only would it generate a lot of radio noise in your car, both AM and FM, it would also screw up radio reception in just about any car radio within 50+ feet.  In addition, it will be causing a continuous string of high voltage RF spikes in your engine compartment.  If you run an electronic ignition, not points but a Pertronix or the like, it might mess with that randomly, too, potentially causing mis-fires.

If you’re running something like Taylor spiral-wound resistor plug wires, they deliver full voltage to the plug, so that might be an alternative, too.  They damp the high voltage spikes that the radio would hear.
