OK, I want to give everyone an opportunity to put a day (or two) aside for this run....
Lets start with June 13th (A Saturday)as the date, it is negotable if this is not good for the majority, some of you will have an excuse whichever weekend we choose.....
Solvang offers many things to do. You can feed the Ostrich/Emu's,
watch the minature horses romp, shop among the tourist's that visit Solvang, and drink wine (or in my case Scotch) Some may choose to spend the night (I may be one of them)....
so lets see how many belly up to the bar....

June 6th sounds cool.. but I wanted to know what the average drive time would be to Solvang 3 to 4 hours? do we need to go real early or can we cruz up later in the morning say 10 or 11 so we can go topless all the way up and then deal with it on the ride home of for those who wish to stay overnight can drive home the next day at a comfortable time? Peronally I perfer to stay the night and then go topless all the way up and back...
Solvang is about 30-45 minutes past Santa Barbara off the 101, but there are other ways to get there. Santa Barbara is about 2 hours from L.A....All that being said, I would recommend the coast (hiway 1)with a stop at Topanga Canyon motel as we do for Morro Bay and then on to Las Posas rd to the 101 to pick up any Valley cars, 101 to Santa Barbara and then Canyons to Solvang....I don't think we should leave later than 9:15-9:30 from Topanga location, but most if not all can be top down in June, except for you pussies of course....once we are all gathered for the day and bonded with each other (no smart ass remarks needed) then you can either return home or spend the night..
Reminder, Solvang closes about 6:00 PM...Those lazy Danes don't like working real hard...
Vince,
Do us the big favor of reminding us a wk b4 or 2-wks b4 if possible.. I know it sounds stupid but we've reached the point of not remembering.. May I ask where in SB or wherever you would be getting rooms if you pull an overnighter?
By the way Kirk is out of Jim Beam... Can u fix that? ! (good job last time) not that you stuck around (weasel)!
Drop me an update on my email when its all together and if your staying and where. We can leave office like by 10:30 (possible).

OK gang, We have called a number of hotels in the area and the main problem is a 2 night minimum at most hotels and the one's that allow 1 night want an arm and a leg....
So Here it is....
Days Inn Buellton

I currently have a block of 6 rooms, all kings, but I can get 2 queens instead, if you prefer...and I can add a few rooms at this time, so let me know right away....David, Gabriel, Bruce, Gerd, any others....spending the night isn't necessary, but after a little wine tasting and driving in the sun all day, it's nice not to have to make the trip home all in one day....
I have the following people in rooms at this time confirmed
Vince M
Mary & Kirk
Jim I
Erwin R
larry B
Will P
I can look for a route, but it is open for discussion if you have a preference, also, I'll go on the sideways site and pick a few wineries to chose from...I liked Fes Parker and Firestone to name a few....
